ACT 2900 Street Disc........
A friend of mine told me my throw out bearing is gone(needs replaced), but my question is my clutch setup isnt even a year old yet I think. Iy has spent more time in a garage than anything else. Is this posible? I got the 2900 disc and flywheel by ACT. I had a guy in florida install it when I lived there. Any ideas?

Does it go away when the clutch pedal is first pressed or only when the clutch is disengaged? If it happens only when the clutch is disengaged, then it is transmission noises you are hearing, not release bearing. Release bearing noise would change at the top of the pedal travel, not only when the clutch is disengaged. There was a recent thread about clutch noise that you may want to search for.
Try it out and let me know. What clutch do you have by the way? We don't make anything we call a 2900. The numbers such as 2100, 2600 and 2900 are a carry over from well known ACT clamp load ratings from our DSM clutches. Our most popular clutch kits for the EVO are usually either HDSS, XTSS, HDG6 or HDR6 in that order.

I kinda cant....since the head gasket is blown. I dont speak to the guy I bought the clutch from......all he told me was Act 2900 Street Disc and Flywheel and installed by a mechanic up here........Quite frankly I dont recall hearing any letters for its name, not saying they didnt though.

dude..i had this problem tons of times with my old dsm....have someone outside the car looking at the trans...while you push the clutch in and out..if the trans is moving a lil bit at all...then you probably are missing a bolt somewhere...between the trans and the block...go back and check all your bolts....if you are missing 1 single bolt it will cause the throwout bearing to be on a tilt and screw everything up....
if not...then maybe whoever put your clutch in reused the old tb.....good luck

We don't recall your screen name.
It sounds like it might be your transfercase if it is a whining sound.

This is not a DSM or any one of your DSMs.
The DSM is a push type clutch, the Evo is a pull type clutch. They do not even operate the same.
There are no bolts missing, nor would that affect the TOB alignment. There are dowels that hold the trans in place even with no bolts in it.
ACT clutches (every single one) comes with a new throw out bearing. We would never reuse a TOB, especially as there is a new one with each kit.
Please take your theories and practice them in the newbie section. Thanks for playing.
