Question Considering PPI porting...

Hi guys after all the great great help when i was considering my intercooler decision. I am now considering porting. PPI looks to know what they are doing and they are turning out beautiful peices. I am considering:

Ported and Coated Intake manifold
Internal and External Ported Exhaust Manifold
Ported 10.5 Hotside

I would use the WORKS Apature II 65mm TB on the intake mani, and match my WORKS o2 housing to the ported hotside.

I am on a mission to max out my stock set up, because unlike the trend, im not intrested in a turbo swap. So again my car will stay stock turbo.....is porting something i should consider? i have added up roughly $500 for what i listed above. but im hoping PPI will hook me up if i do it all at the same time.

my questions are:

1. what do i stand to gain? power? spool? over all performance?
2. what do i stand to lose? tq loss? lag? A/F?
3. is this option a waste of money if retaning a stock like set up?

I would love to hear from both sides, the good and the bad. PPI please feel free to comment.

thanks ahead of time again guys.

Thank you for looking into our parts first off! I have not been on line much today, but I will do my best to answer some questions and shed some light on our services.

First off these parts will work great on your stock turbo setup! When porting the exhaust pieces the idea is to get rid of the restriction in the exhaust system. There is a lot of room for improvement in the exhaust manifold. The hotside needs to be gasket matched to the new ported manfiold to have the smoothest airlow from the manifold to the hotside. Then, a good free flowing o2 is very important. You don't want a stock o2 choking the exhaust that you free up with the porting work. The intake manifold and t/b are pieces I recommend after items like: lower i/c pipe, ic, cams, free flowing exhaust are already on the car.

These components will not add any lag to your sysem. The t/b will help improve throttle response actually. When it comes to coatings, the Swain coatings are excellant at keeping underhood temps. down. The major whp improvements though are in the porting. If someone is on the fence due to the cost of the coatings....all these services can be done without the parts being coated and will yield great results. The ported exhaust parts really like a restriction-free exhaust. So I always recommend no cats or resonators to get the most out of ported parts. You can expect to gain power throughout your rpm range. Exact numbers though will vary as it will depend on the level of mods you have.

If you have any other questions let me know.

cheers-Wayne

Definitely do the porting on the turbine housing and exhaust manifold. I also HIGHLY reccomend the ceramic coating. I have it on all my exhaust parts. Its great.

You will gain power from the porting. It really does help. PPI did my exhaust manifold porting and did a great job. Buschur did my turbine housing before PPI was around and they did a great job too.

Are there any significant gains to be had if we didn't port the hotside?
My SCCA class doesn't allow alterations to the turbocharger.

I have a PPI manifold and my exhaust mani/hotside/02 housing coated. Couldn't be happier.
