Getting a race gas tune, which fuel should I use?
Should i do a C16 tune or do something like a 100-104 octane tune? We have stations that offer the latter and it's easy to get. The C16 is obviously more difficult to obtain. Would a C16 tune be worth the hassle over a 100-104 octane tune?
im in the same boat. im wondering what makes more power.
93+100%meth
100oct+100%meth
C16.
its for a 30r turbo kit

i am still on the fence about whether or not i should do meth, still getting info from people i respect. If i did do the meth thing then this thread would be pretty moot.
You should get a race gas tune on the fuel you intend to use and which is easy to obatin. Have a talk with your tuner about your intended driving style and set up and see what he / she recomends and is confortable with.

I'd call up Wheeler automotive and get some 112 and get tuned on that. That's what I'm going to do. In jax, the best prices I've found are through them. 110 is $4.50, 112 is $5 and C16 is $8. To me, the 112 is the best value. Nice running into you the other day too. We'll need to get together some time.
If you're still using a cat, etc., generally 112 is the highest unleaded octane fuel you can buy.
If you do not have a highly modded setup, C16 can sometimes actually slow you down, unless you're specifically tuned for it, and you might not get any significant improvements with C16 over, for example, 109 or 112 if your mod list is not long. The main value for higher octane is limitation of detonation at high boost levels. If the rest of your setup will not benefit as much from very high boost levels (or live with them
), then C16 is not incrementally useful for you. If you don't have a standalone, or if you're not doing your own flashes, and you are limited to one map, you should map for which fuel you will use all of the time.

Who makes 112 unleaded? The highest that Sunoco makes is 104 and I beleived VP to be the same. Never use leaded gas with a cat. Also know with a test pipe running leaded gas still kills O2 sensors. The higher the octane the faster usually due to the higher lead content.
For some reason I have not seen alot of people run 110 Leaded....Im not sure if its my location (St. Louis) but I can get 110 Leaded all day long. If I get a race gas tune It will be with the 110....because its about 1/2 the price of C16
I had pretty good success with C12. I ran 5gallons of C12 and 3gallons pump93. I will probably stick with this formula for race fuel as the C12 is cheaper than C16 and more avail.
