Talk about a disappointment...would have been great to use in the canyons.

Hows about taking my stock 9 and replacing the parts with Ti shaft and TiAl wheel?

No problem there. We even have a half dozen or so of the ceramic TiAl turbine wheel and shafts left over from the white rabbit stuff years ago. We could probly do a NEW EVO9 turbo with a TiAl wheel swap and fresh balance for about $1100 if you wanted one. If you just want to buy one of the TiAl shafts, I could let that go for about $400.

However, I personally no longer recommend the ceramic TiAl turbines as I have seen a relatively large number of these pop the turbine head off the shafts. Turns out on of the biggest challenges to making a TiAl turbine wheel and shaft is the "and shaft" part of it. You dont just weld cast intermetallic TiAl to chrome steel, they dont weld. So press fits with bazing material between the turbine head and shaft was used for a while, then they switched to something else that didnt work much better.

MHI used these parts in normal production cars, the TiAl and the Mag parts were fine for the stock cars. They are not suitable for what our depraved minds would consider "normal spirited driving".

But I still have a handful of these turbines, even have a dozen or more mag wheels. Just be advised.

I've asked this before, but here goes again: Can't a IX turbo be fitted with the FP White(HTA) compressor wheel and a TiAl turbine wheel? This should have relatively quick spool, but offer more topend than either the stock IX or the Mag comp wheels paired with the TiAl turbine, shouldn't it?

Sure, it would be no problem to do a FP White model with a TiAl turbine wheel, just adds to the cost and potentially shortens the lifespan of the turbo (head separation).

When the cast turbine head section of the TWS pops off the chrome steel shaft, we call it "head separation" . That is to say that when the turbine head breaks away from the shaft, and you have 2 pieces instead of one - one piece being the cast inconel or TiAl turbine head and the other being the chrome steel shaft. Thee 2 pieces being normally fastened together via electron beam welding, friction welding or a variety of other process popular with ceramic turbine heads which do not weld.

I have a BBK Full currently but on 98RON I plan to go back to the 9RS v2, if it was track I'd stay but for street that extra 800rpm or so spool and 60+NM down low I'll take the hit on a top end 15kw
