Guess this part

Ok - situation room: Engine rebuild in progress. After we pulled the motor, we found this spring clip on the floor. I've searched the factory service manual for all instances of spring clip and circlip, nothing matching the size of this. It could be from some shop tool, but I figured I would throw this out to see who's who in knowing their EVOs.

Engine was removed following the clutch swap method, then adding removal via the motor mount and cherry picker up the top...

Spring clip was found after engine was out of the engine bay - thus, anywhere from axles, transfer case, tranny, and doubtfully engine area.

Thanks for looking.

These are found on many cheap ratchets, ie. Craftsman

No - REARLLY good guess though. I had thought the same, as I broke my 1/4" ratchet in the process of removing the engine. But it didn't have a spring clip - and neither does its direct replacement.

If you used a aluminum racing floor jack they have these clips. Check your jack

Very good chance. I had checked my jack for this before - but nothing very thorough - I'll double check this. Thanks for that.
