There are better choices than "brand" names for exhaust IMO. The workmanship and quality of the Vishnu and RMR exhaust are excellent.

Besides, when is the last time you saw an HKS rep fielding questions on this forum? Support small companies!! The big guys don't give a flying hoot about your car or you; just another sale.

Well put !! I feel you get just as good , if not better quality from smaller corps. Look at RMR, they have been tuning Evos for years and likely do it better than ANY giant company. They aren't about the bling bling but they get results !

Hi

I maybe a bit late joining this thread, but i noticed some of you are waiting for us to make a evo 8 exhaust !!.We are at the presant making a batch (the spare ones are sold already) and are waiting for rally performance to confirm some orders, they are trying to get a group buy so if any one is impatient and wants to be the first with the best then they can order direct .

HKS's Service sucks, There products are over rated and over priced. I will never buy another HKS product again. There customer service when I had a flex joint issue was not there. They were rude to me and trying very quickly to get me off the phone. Vendor support is not there as well.

My Best
Eric

Hmmm..while I agree supporting the little guys is good, have never been anything less than 100% satisfied with HKS's customer service, both when I was a regular retail individual customer to the present when we stock their stuff...

I have spent countless hours on the phone with them assisting me with questions when I could not figure something out (like the 4 + hour they spent over 2 days walking me through the setup of an EVC Pro.....).

to each his own though..thank god for choices

Are you nutty?? How many different cars does HKS tune? A LOT!

How many cars does RMR tune? JUST LANCERS, esp. EVOS!

I have been to the shop many times. Not only is their in-house fabrication outstanding, but the few companies they do farm work out to would surprise you - they do work for BIG race teams. Remember, too, that this is the same shop that put out Rhys Millen's Pike's Peak record-holding car for his group. I may be biased, but I would definitely stand by their work.

How many Evos have you seen HKS tune? Who knows if they actually do the R&D. Someone like RMR, Vishnu, AMS are doing it and showing it. They are here in the good ole US of A and deserve the business.

Edit: HKS makes some good stuff, don't get me wrong. But you can do better for cheaper right here. Only thing HKS I'd consider is the cams an the turbo if you were going that way.

I'm really getting surprised with some of what I'm reading here. How many years has the EVO been here???? If anyone in the US would take the time to LEARN a few things about Japan not only HKS and the other big players but they would see the same thing over in Japan except these small guys have been tuning the EVO since it was made. Not since it was in the US. It is pretty easy to slap on a exhaust system on a car and proclaim yourself as a tuner. How many of these guys are actually racing these cars every weekend. A few good ones as you mentioned about RMR. Another thing is many shops are over pricing their imported parts so they can sell their own parts. I hope I don't see any EVO's with flowmasters next.

Value -

I give HKS full credit for what they do. My point is that they work with Japan-spec cars. RMR has been doing work to comply with US-spec (albeit in rallies) for a while. They had a LHD 6 and 7 for a while, so a lot of the fabrication, fit, etc. is well developed. I personally watched Rhys test the exhaust for decibels. I know they do the work.

I am sure HKS has a large R&D dept, but with a large company comes a large company's attitude.

Finally, I personally hate to "Frankenstein" a car, using parts from A-Z. In the case of my car, all of the parts that I've bolted on to increase flow come from one mfg, and that means it all fits properly together, works together and can be warranted as a whole by RMR.

For those of you buying parts, these discussions should shed a lot of light on what's out there. Once you know what you are trying to achieve with your mods, it makes the decision-making process a lot easier. Good luck.

I don't argue with you. Problem is price and availability of what is over there. The good tuners here are putting there time in on the car and getting good results.

Oh, I was on your site and you have a cart system but everything is $0. I am sure that doesn't mean it's free.

I personally hate to have to call to order parts, the internet is there for a reason. I generally do this stuff when everyone is closed. I am not busting on you, just in general. You have a good variety of stuff on your site. You definetly seem to be putting forth the effort. Some of the others are really lagging, which I guess is good for the organized vendors.
