$1000 for power mods?

As the title says I am now after 4 months of owning my evo 8 ready to drop a little bit of cash on it. It is probally important to mention the car already has a TBE intercooler pipes, new front mount intake fuel pump clutch recirc h34 valve and a tune.

I am trying to stay at $1000 installed and tuned, based on the mods I currently have I was thinking I should either go for cams or a meth kit but as you can tell I may be somewhat ignorant, is it reasonable for me to think I can get either one of these installed and on the road for a grand?

Also, maybe a little bit off topic (not in the correct forums) if I were to go the meth route how would I know which kit to get? I see kits ranging from $250 to $750 with no noobie FAQ guide in sight.

All other suggestions obviously accepted, just trying to get the best bang for the buck even if that means I have to save up a little more cash.

Cams then a retune. Dyno tune is usually around $300 so youll only have $700 for cams and install.

Really? seems like even w/o cams meth is a better bang for the buck if its a choice between one or the other. unless there are some safety concerns that I'm not aware of.

i've been doing some research lately cuz m looking to do some mods as well. and from wut i've read so far, cams help make the engine breath a little better.

yes u make more power with meth than cams. u also make more power with meth than a TBE,intake, boost controller all together. but eveybody does that first. cuz lesser restrictions, making the engine breathe a bit better comes before making more power. hope it makes sense.

Cams, install, tune. That should put you right around $1000.

Also, be careful with injection. You have to be super careful when injecting anything into your motor. You seem new to the injection, I would read up some more on it before you decide to go down that path...

just my 2 cents

Nick

good advice, I plan on doing exactly what you have done. I just bought a 10.5 hotside 02 housing and some comp 280's. I was hoping to hit 400 w/ a 8 turbo maybe I'll have to do a little something extra to hit that magic 400 whp number. I'd like to be at ~340 once i get my new goodies intstalled. I'll do meth a few months down the road.
