I'll definitely give a look... Thanks for the info

I'm guessing its something mechanical that contributed to the failure, like Sean said it could have been a FPR line blowing off, thats a common thing with these cars and would make you go VERY lean. It already happened to me once, luckly I was tuning at the time and caught it quickly.

good luck
I concur with a mechanical issue / fuel supply problem

However, on the fuel pressure regulator hose matter I have seen quite a few pop off in my day and when they do the car goes so lean the power cuts off kind of like a fuel cut so after seeing so many pop off not once did any engine damage result

It is a good idea however to zip tie those hoses leading to the fuel pressure regulator and to also zip tie any vac hose which sees boost

Usually, a car with burned off spark plugs I would attribute to lack of fuel supply and resulting lean condition and detonation. Some causes of this may be fuel pump coming loose in the housing, fuel pump failure and also over boosting the car with more boost that it was tuned for. With two spark plugs burned down a injector failure is unlikely.

+1 on these notes
-The FPR line popping off in most cases will make the car buck like a fuel cut especially at that high of a rpm where boost would be high
-Read threw his post to see who tuned him
-Either a bad tune or failing fuel pump

I hope it just have to replace pistons, its a good sign you did not see a whole in the block.

no lines where off the fpr....funny thing is, i just pmed you about 2 weeks ago about a turbo kit and tune. no im hoping my machine guy can save my block re-hone and bore so i can slap pistons, rods, and bearings...hopefully the head is fine...hopefully i can build the bottom end and head as well while im at it...looks like the car will be down for a while so maybe a new turbo kit as well....then eventually i can see you and get my car done right. im so pissed, 9200 miles and boom.

But seriously sorry to hear about that, it is easy to find out who is reputable, and even if it costs a little extra it will never cost as much as replacing the engine.
I see it happen all the time, it's sad.

If it's the tune, and we don't know that yet it could be something as simple as a blown off FPR vac hose which is very common.

If i were you I would be quite interested in determining what caused the failure before I went any further.

Good luck and if you need it tuned feel free to call us (Comment removed :-))

Sean
hey, im almost 100% sure it was because of the tune and detonation, piston 2 and 4 have holes right along the walls.....took the head off today...my machine guy garuntees me it was the tune and detonation/knock blew it up. only 9200 miles on the motor, 3000 was with the tune. and no you didnt tune my car. thanks for the advice but all lines were connected plenty of fuel as well.

At least it will be warm for a little bit longer and you can ride your bike. For future referance invest in a wideband AFR gauge and mitsulogger so you can datalog and make sure everything is running ok

i def will...should of been the first gauge i bought since the tune, but like a moron i didnt care, i rushed and got a quick tune, and 3000 miles later im looking at big $ now to slap pistons, rods...hopefully the crank and head are ok....at this point it looks like i am going to build the head and block and look for the best prices on turbo kits while the car is down.

i didnt pull the block yet, tomorow i will know...but looking at the holes in the pistons, all the oil loss should be caused by blow by...when i pulled over, the dipstick had just a little under the first line on the it....so im guessing 3 quarts....im hoping the block is fine...

i will keep everyone posted...i will know Wednesday what will happen with the block if it can be saved..in the meantime any VENDOr prices on pistons/rods will be a big help....if the block can not be saved i will be looking into a built 2.0 shortblock...hopefully the head is fine and i will port and save that...thank you.
