I really hate dragging up only threads from the dead but I filled up my EVO for the 1st time tonight.....

177 miles on 11.294 gallons = 15.67 MPG .... I do admit I have been in the boost a bit but 15mpg is ridiculous....car has a little over 4k miles.

You think I should reset my ECU ? Maybe the ECU learned some bad habits from the original owner ?

Lowest milage I've had on a tank of gas is 160 when light came on. Highest is 248 when light came on. It's all in how your driving it. I think you could get 260-280 if you went out and drove it at 60mph on the highway with no boost but who can do that.

My normal fill ups are right at 200miles... Somtimes the gas light is on, but try and fill it up before it get's there so the crud at the bottom of tank does not get into injectors....

Shape, 31mpg? damn thats good! I managed 27 on the highway cruising at 70 mph and my girlfriend in the car. By the way yes you can alter the timing with the Emanage at part throttle. I run 785cc injectors with Walbro fuel pump and HKS 272's and I managed 27mpg. My map runs extra lean on up to 20% throttle and also adds timing . All this is still on the safe side however.

Try to keep your engine speed under 3000, or shift at 3K. Someone brought it up earlier, but raise your tire pressures and it'll help keep rolling resistance to a minimum. Also make sure you're not hauling around extra weight. No extra crap in your trunk and stuff.
But for the price of some upgrades for the Evo you could pick up a beater car that gets 30+mpg. Like my 94 Tercel. Man I love that thing!
