Perhaps they change it for all evo 8's? Perhaps the JDM's evo 8 RS-5 front LSD would would work?
Shiv told me that even Ralliart UK was surprised when he emailed pics of the housing to them. So I think that we can be reasonably certain that the JDM LSD's won't work for now.

If you are looking down on the engine from the front of the car the center diff is to the right and the front diff is on the left...see manual page 22a-3 subject 9 and 13 if you have it available...the front diff I am sure is the same as the one on the 7

Call me crazy, but my guess is that the helical front diff from the Evo 4-6.5 will fit the US VIII. Can anyone confirm this?
Cheers,

Cheers,
Why would you want to replace the diff with a helical diff....? it is already a helical diff ...what it is not is a limited slip diff

after a complete tear down it was found to have a exploded front diff .. the cause being the motor mounts are to "compliant" alowing the motor to "shift" in the bay causing the right side axle to come apart , thus placing an huge load on the front diff, causing it to "self destruct". I dissasembled the tranny just to make sure everything was ok & it looks fine. here are some pictures ..enjoy !
To me - I see it as happening the other way around. I say an abusive launch caused a tooth to break which lead to the diff locking - - the sudden locking of the diff caused the engine to violently pitch forward - thereby poping off the half shaft- (which prob had a weakend circlip from the clutch removal) - and then at the same intstant the f diff self destructed breaking apart

Either way - this should stand as a testament to any fool who tries to go faster than Big Al - - - it aint easy to be the fastest !

Sorry - I just can't restrain myself ! The entire saga of this guy is just way to amusing - it would make good content for a grand comical novel. I'll tell you this much - this guy is one obsessed individual. I think he'll leave no stone unturned until he can go faster than me. Reminds me of that flick "leaving Las Vegas" Anyway - I'll table my saterical retorts at the request of the mods ! rules!

Yeah, my "choppin'" skills suck... but this might help some folks out.

G. center diff
A. viscous coupler
D. where a ring gear attaches to drive the pinion gear which is attached to the drive shaft
F. (incorrect in the pic, should be the left splines) inserts into E
B. splines that drive the front diff housing... insert into C

The ring gear on D and the splines of C are only connected throught the viscous device. They are not "fixed" together.

I forgot to label the main drive gear. Its attached to the center diff housing. Its that really big gear that ShapeGSX(I think) commented on being 2" wide.

Wheww.... thats some confusin' stuff!!!
