so the halfshafts go through the center diff on one side and through the VC on the other to the wheels themselves? Cool stuff..

AutoXer: Actually the center diff has two concentric ouput shafts. The second one is just to the left of "F" and right of the bearing. "F" connects to the left side of the front diff and the unlabelled output shaft connects to "E."

Yes very sure. I was haning out with Shiv about a month ago and he told me the whole story with the ralliart diff they were trying to fit in his owen car. They have confirmed that it does fit the EVO 8 out side of the US.

which diff did Shiv try putting in...there are more than 1.

Who is trying to fit the front LSD in the center.........if they are, maybe they should not be given tools!

Yeah, there are different diffs for the ACD equipped Evos and non-ACD Evos I believe.

They got it to fit on the UK Evo 8 because they are equipped with ACD...

I was doing a little radical road racing with the boys last night and developed a whine of unknown origin. The dealer says the fluid in the transfer case is burned and the whole thing must be replaced. I am running all Buschur add ons and should be at about 340 whp and 300 fpt. I have launced it pretty hard a bunch, but has anyone else had this failure? Should this happen and what is the solution to preventing it in the future. Is there a better fluid or is the dealer full of it. I am clueless as this is my first awd. Any input will be appreciated. They said the tranny fluid looks ok. Are these fluids seperate? Help....This is an expensive big ouch if they don't cover any of it...which I cannot imagine they will.

What is radical road racing? Is this an eXXtreme sport? Sorry to hear about the diff. Did you see the fluid? I would assume burned fluid would be like ashes..

Yes the fluids are separate. Yes you can get better diff fluids (Redline, Amsoil etc.). I would bet a lot of money they won't cover it. You could try changing to Redline 75-90 and see if it stops the whine before buying a new diff. I doubt it will fix it but worth a try before buying a new diff.
