How many GT35R owners experiencing spark blow-out

Just trying to get a general consensus as i understand each car will have it's own unique requirements.

I'm planning on running the 35R to the max 30+ psi.

Just wondering if i should go ahead and get the ebay cop's as "insurance" as i'd like to take away as many variables as possible to keep the car consistant and easy to tune.

So who is experiencing this condition and if you can please post your boost level, hp level, type of gas, etc.

Thanks

what gas are you using and what heat range of spark plug. I had that happen on my honda running 30psi, but i was using c16 and also a 9 plug, so it was too cold. I dropped to 110 octane and no more blown out spark.

i had it with stock gap on ngk 8 plug boosting ~30psi on c16. The shop gapped down to .022 and it's fine. By the way while we're at it, can someone tell me what is the disadvantage of gapping the plug? thanks.

less spark to chamber exposure, higher chance of missed combustion events generally in lower load/cruise conditions.

FWIW the gap on mine appears to be close to 30, and I run around at around 23psi on pump (ams 35r kit & fmic)

mine breaks up pretty bad.. i didnt need to go to 30psi to break the 500mark so we just left it at 27.. but i have denso 1 step colers. i know i need to get NGk's but originally they were gapped at i thik .26 then on the dyno it was breaking up so we took it down to .24 it was ok for a while but i threw on my buddies sun auto ignition amp and it helped a little.. but i guess the water and meth mix is making it break up and fouled the plugs.. i am gonna get some NGK 1 step colders and gap mine to .22 and that should help alot.

i run a 35r 30 psi methpump....500hp br8es gapped to .021 .022 hks dli2.......i definitly would say get ATLEAST the dli2...even with this setup i still go through plugs every 400 to 500 miles....but solid spark all the way through....i originally had them gapped to .026 when the car was getting tuned..and it was breaking up a little spark so ..sean ivey said regap them to .021..and the car jumped 15hp..
also if you get the dli2 get raliart wires...i hear alot of problems with the dli2 and stock wires...

im moving to coil on plug very soon...

Hey guys thanks for the input it sounds like i'll likely need something but i'll try getting the right fuel and gapping down to .021" ish first.

If not i'll just spring for the Ebay COP's.

I'll let ya know what happens after the weekend racing

I don't think they make coppers yet for the evo 9. I also run a 35r with stock block with cosi cams at 30.5psi with 100% meth but I use a hks dli2. I think I gapped my stockers to .022, or .024 I can't remember which one. Haven't experienced any break up.

What kinda power did you make with that set-up?

I ended up running LFR7AIX's gapped down to .023 and ran 30 psi on our race gas and no blow-out

No ign amp. or cop's needed.......yet lol.

I'll start a new thread w/ dyno #'s from our new set-up along w/ a slip from the track and a short vid when i get home today.

I know of a few cars here that tried them with AEM's and had not so great outcomes

If needed i'll just step up to the ebay COP's
