uicp

i read that an aftermarket uicp had no effect on performance changing the licp is the way to go and leave the upper stock. is his true?

Well if you figure the straighter the route of piping and larger diameter should help a bit with power for most aftermarket uicp's.Check out ETS.They have pics of their uicp vs the stock uicp.

I've heard changing the UICP doesn't add power because it's not much of a flow restriction but it does improve the throttle response. The LICP is actually where you'll find the restriction and power.

Hard piping with no flex and a short route also helps to decrease boost drop

I just installed my Nisei UICP (already having the AMS LICP), and I noticed a pleasurable increase in responsiveness. I would say kind of like the Evo breathes easier. Though the mod doesn't result in 10-15 whp, as long as you're decreasing the length of the intake tract overall, it certainly doesn't hurt.

Oh, and using a ported TB will gain most of your throttle response, anyway.

If you have a basically stock setup, the LICP and UICP yield no gain in hp or tq or curves....There are many other things to do first that will yield big gains...Once you have those items taken care or, you can upgrade piping...
