hey i have a 99 eclipse gs and i want to swap a japanese 4g63 from a galant or a lancer. is this possible and has it been done before? what about swapping a 2g 4g63 turbo from a gst in america?

Is your GS equipped with a 2.0 4A20 engine or a 2.4 4G64 engine. The first one is built by Chrysler, and should be located on the passenger side of the engine bay. The 4G64 is a Mitsubishi motor, and should be located at the driver side.

If you have the 4A20 engine, the easiest way to get more power is to get a Hahn racing turbocharger kit.

If you have the 4G64 engine, you should be able to fit the 2.0 4G63 turbo engine from 90-92 Galant VR-4 or EVO I-III engine and bolt it to the GS-T tranny.

However, either case, it would be much more cost efficient to get the GS-T or GSX than turbocharging/swapping....in my opinion. Just use the $ you save for the swap and sell your current car, you should be able to get a decent turbo DSM....

 

thanks man. im still gonna try to get that evo engine though because ive put way too much money into the appearance. wide body, custom interior custom M3 astoril blue paint roof scoop and supra taillights... if anyone else knows if it is possible to swap out a 420A for a 4g63t then let me know. thank anyways lan evo for helpin me out

 

Dude just get yourself an EVO! You'll save yourself lots of trouble....

 

Although the location and the dimension of the 420A is similar to the Mirage and EVO engines, however, the 420A engine mounts will not work with the Mitsu engines. You will have to re-weld the mounts just to fit the 4G63 into the engine bay.

IMO, getting that Hahn turbo kit would seems more feaseable.
