Exhaust "ding" bell sound?

Hello --

I just installed a Fujitsubo RM-01A on my Evolution IX. I found that after driving and parking, while the exhaust is cooling down, the exhaust tip makes a "ding" sound every 10 seconds or so. It sounds like someone's tapping a bell -- not too loud, but definitely noticeable (my wife said "what's that sound?") It only happens for a few minutes or so until the car's cooled down. I'm guessing it's just expansion/contraction of the metal, but still... a bit strange.

Does anyone else's exhaust makes this sound? Is it normal? Maybe my exhaust hanger clamp is too loose/too tight?

I doubt that it's a big deal, but thought I'd ask...

BTW...I tried searching under exhaust and "bell" "ding" "ring" and didn't find anything.

Thanks,

Normal. The intervals will change, with different wall thickness.

When metals get hot they expand. The noise is from the metal contracting because its cooling down. My exhaust does the same thing.

yeah i think it's due to expansion/contraction of the metal...

it's nothing minor...nor major

My SS heatshield does this.

It hits a bell-eske note as well.
