Safe Boost Level

Hey everybody! I'm getting a 3" TBE and tune this weekend and was wondering what a safe boost level would be to crank up to. I was thinking 19 - 20 psi seemed reasonable for a daily driver. I always use 93 octane. The reason I ask is that I was curious as to what other people turned their boost up to without any problems to the clutch. I'm running a stock clutch, which i'll ultimately upgrade, but for now I don't want to have to worry about it slipping. Also, I never launch the car, and the clutch will be babied as I always have. Thanks for any input!

safe is stock boost level...semi safe is about 20~21..

however it all depends on the tuning..you will find people running 25psi on pump..

thanks for the info. really, my question is if the stock clutch will hold 20 psi. I don't really want to have to buy a new clutch now. Keep in mind I am very gentle with the clutch.

Stock boost on an 05 is 21.5 lbs. You can bring it up to 22-23 without any hint of a problem. I had mine with an intake, TBE, MBC, and AFCII tune for a good few months and never had any slipping or anything. When I had AEM on the stock turbo it was doing 23 even from Sean Ivey(awesome tune, 403 ft lbs on the stock turbo with a stroker was a FUN street car, almost instant boost).

...on second thought, it might be 20.5 on a stock 05 and 19-20 on an 03-04

I'm pretty sure stock boost on an 05 gsr is 17.5psi. Anyone know for sure? Thanks for the help guys... it makes me feel much more confident about upping the boost!

a good tuner can leave you at 21-22psi safely

if you don't do high rpm shifts on a daily basis and don't lunch the car the stock clutch can last anywhere between 20-30k miles assuming you have a new car with light mods

no its not 17.5.... thats wat it tapers down to (stock boost solenoid) considering many states dont have 93 octane. its 21ish pretty much most of the rev band. 93 octane, a good tune and its very safe at 21ish all the way

you should set the boost for whatever you tuned for. if you not tuned then you shouldn't be changing the boost.

I'm running 25psi solid, up to 18k mi on my 06, still on stock clutch, and the only time it slips is if I launch it.

I've gone to the track 3 times, 3 runs each time... plus maybe 3 street launches.

Replacing it with an ACT XDSS & Gruppe-S Flywheel soon, but as for what the clutch can take, I'm happy it's not slipping unless I make it slip.

I made 320lb-ft on a Dyno Dynamics @ 24psi... that's easily over 400 at the flywheel, stock clutch held it.

23psi on mine with a solid IVEY tune, 0-1 knock counts, and mid 11 AFR's. . .you can run above stock level boost as long as the tune is custom done. . .I'd also get an upgraded I/C if you're running more than stock, since the added heat needs to be cooled more efficiently (bar and plate design is more conducive than the tube fin setup of the stocker). . .
