Spoken like someone who has never ported cast iron.

Considering a good bit will cost you close to $45 I'd say you got your money's worth.

FP. If they would have just gasket matched the o2 housing side I would have been happy. I was pretty unhappy 1. for not meeting my deadline of 2 weeks (3 weeks 3 days actually) and 2. not being what I expected.

I guess part of it is my fault... next time the car is down I'll have it done right.

Yeah cast iron is tough. About 5seconds into doing it with my dremel I gave up.

Last thing I wanted to do is mess it up... then I'd have to wait another month or two to get a replacement from FP.

You don't use a dremel for cast iron.

Since we are on the topic, is the Evo 9 hotside the same as the FP green hot side? TIA

I find it bizarre that they port matched after the coating was applied.

^^Yeah same here. Lesson learned for sure.

The FP green hotside is a 10.5cm that is machined for the larger wheel... Evo9 would have to be machined as well.

Yeah, that gasket match of the turbine inlet takes me about five minutes max with a high powered electric rotary die grinder and a conical white stone. It must take them even less time since they are experts.

Your instincts are right, as the material that shrouds the exducer accounts for 3 PSI of backpressure on a Green. The turbine inlet is just a silly gasket match, and there just isn't much power in it as pictured.

JustChil, if you want a FULLY ported 10.5 for your Green, then PM me as I am going to order a 9.8 for my personal Green and I won't be needing my fully ported 10.5 anymore. I can vouch for it as I did it myself. Maybe we can work something out.

FP uses the single flapper, 10.5 turbine housing on their Green, which I think is the same turbine housing that comes stock on the USDM IX turbos. FP, however, machines the housing internally to accomodate the larger turbine wheel used in the Green turbo.

I'd love to have that... but to be honest... I just don't have the $$$ right now. If anything I'd look into getting the one I have ported (again). I've been down almost 2 months so at this point I'm happy just to get the car back on the road.

it was a joke. I've got a bit for my die grinder/cutter that I use at work and when working with stainless, it works rather well for cast as well.
