Rear Diff/Mustache Bushing

do i need the AMS EVO Mustache Bar Eliminator or would the Energy Suspension bushing 5.1108 for the mustache bar do away with the noise you get from hard shifts?

The ES Bushings would do just fine....I have this already installed on my EVO.

All in all its all up to you how much money you want to spend and if the weight loss is a must for you.

If I had to do it all over again from scratch I would have gotten the Buschur racing rear mustache bar replacement, that way I'd be stiffening up the rear and losing like 12 pounds at the same time

nice, i don't like hearing the noise, wife says we would leave something behind, lol

eventually would get the bar replacement but the bushing to eliminate that noise would do for now
do u have the full ES kit insalled?
what are your thoughts?

How hard is it to take the mustache bar off the car? I'm thinking about doing this, but it's kinda intimidate me.

I love it, the drivetrain clunk noise is gone, but you can hear a bit more whine from the rear diff, but I'm ok with that.....

i dont have the full ES master kit installed, just the rear diff carrier bushings and the rear mustache bar bushings

lol, it sounds totally unhealthy as far as suspension is concerned but throwing around getting the full kit since if i do buy this one alone and get the full kit, would have an extra one

Its hard if you dont have a lift.....doing it in the garage w/o proper leverage, safety equipment, air tools will be a pain in the butt

it takes aout 2.5 hours inclusing pressing, & yes it is a pain doing it in the garage!

i dont mind not having airtools or bieng cramped under a car on stands, but what was a pain for me was lowering the rear subframe to get the clearance to remove the bar. a tranny jack comes in very handy here, but a regular floorjack & 2x4's would prob get it done

I just bought this bushing kit

https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...803e1dc7c9f54b

It replaces all the differential bushings. My first impressions are the rear clunk is gone when shifting fast but it sounds like another small clunk somewhere else toward the front. I guess now that its stiffened up the weakest part of the drivertrain is somewhere else. The noise from the rear diff is definately more audible now and low speeds and high speeds. Above 70 it almost sounds like a bad tcase whine.

Does that help or hurt the suspension as far as cornering to do the full mustache?

neither, it has no affect on suspension other than keeping the diff from moving around

what it will help with is the "clunk" some people get during drag racing. smoother starts from stoplights & easier throttle modulation all around. the trade off is more vibration & noise, though it is minor

looks like buschurs site is a bit misleading in its labeling, that energy kit he is selling has the forward mounts as well as the mustache bar bushings

Does this "clunking" noise only pertain to an VIII, because I have yet to hear any noise from the IX rear diff and/or suspension.
