Y-Block Location for Parallel Fuel Systems??

Where are most of you guys placing the Y Blocks when using 2 fuel pumps in parallel to the fuel rail?

1) Do you add the Y-Block just after the outlet of the 2 inline fuel pumps?? Just run one large -10 line to the rail??

Or

2) Would it be benificial to fuel flow for you "Y" in the two fuel lines as close to the fuel rail as possible? This way, I would be running two fuel lines all the way up front to the engine bay and just Y them in at the last moment.

Would it be benificial to flow to have a Y-block with...

(2) -8 in's and (1) -8 out?

Or should the two inlets be smaller than the one outlet?

Such as (2) -6 in and (1) -8 out?

I will experiment and report some findings. Any input from users who have already performed a dual fuel pump upgrade? Different "Y" locations??

When i did the dual pumps i had dual feed to the rail. Now i have a big pump with a y block that dual feeds the rail.
Ive got about 3' of -10 from the tank to the pump than 2 -6 lines which are about 6' long to the rail. SO far so good. We push 95 psi of fuel pressure with no problems

i would say depends on how long your lines are and where the fuel pump is located. I have heard of some 1500hp cars run dual -6 rails with a -12 feed, but the lines were short from the pump to the lines. You running a fuel cell located in the rear?

My current fuel system consists of a stock 1G DSM fuel tank with a 255HP intank and a 044 inline (Series).

I am going with dual 044 inline and I think I am just going to Y them in right just before the fuel filter in the engine bay.

Any more opinions?

Funny you posted this as i just got done helping a good friend with his 2G duel pump set-up.

This is what we did 1 in tank 255 and one external 255.

We used -6 on the 2 lines into the Y block and -8 up to the rail.

We have the Y mounted in the rear basically below the foot compartment in the rear pass. seat......hope that makes sense. I can get pics later tonight for ya if ya need.

We were debating how the location would affect pressure at the rail etc. but once we tested the system w/ both full on it was like a garden hose spraying fuel .

Fyi - We used a russell Y block that ended up leaking at the input locations of the smaller -6 fittings and not from the -8 going to the rail

We ended up having to use a little teflon paste to seal it

If you have more ?'s i'll be at the shop later .

p.s. If you want to speak with the owner he is on DSMTuners and goes by "greentrbo_95gst" his name is Kamil.

^^ Thankyou. Excellent post.

I wonder what the affect on the fuel system would be if I used two pumps in parallel with different pumping capcities? I'm just weighing all my options here.

255HP feeding the 044 inline +...
Another 044 inline on it own separate -8 line

Since the 044 with the 255HP feeding it would be stronger than just the 044 alone, I wonder if the parallel pumps will fight against each other. I'm sure at full boost the demand from the injectors will be asking for everything the pumps have. Probably no problem there.

Martin from AMS wrote up a nice article on dual pumps. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ferrerid=17460

I believe the parellel pumps would be the way to go. I used to run an intank Walbro 255 feeding an external pump, then the Y block feeding 2 rails. Magna Fuel http://www.magnafuel.com/products/ac...ings/index.htm makes nice Y fittings that flow very well and are reasonably priced. Be careful with the fuel leaks, seen cars go up in flames with leaking rails/fittings.
