Huge boost leak!
ok i have the cover off of the cam gears. i see the marks however the marks do not line up the same on both cam gears. I bought my car used could the car be camed? stock, shouldnt the markings line up the same?
also the sound i should here will be high pitched most likly unles a vac house is off right? I have the tester on the uicp only now and it is still not holding pressure. i think the throttle body might be leaking bad.
The marks should line up no matter what it has, cams, gears set at -12/+12, whatever.
Just line up the intake cam so all valves are closed (either use the mark or have any cyl at highest point) . The air volume with an air compressor ain't enough to close the PVCCV so pop that hose off and plug the intake manifold side. If your pressurizing from the MAF pipe you must also make sure the hose from that goes to the rocker cover is also plugged or else the air will leak through the sump out the dipstick. One more line to plug if not already (MBC) and thats the WG solenoid vacuum line. Just apply about 5 psi and it should hold for a minute or so.
What i meant was the turbo hose that goes to mbc needs to be taken off and plugged shut with like a phillips screwdriver. Otherwise your mbc will be leaking air when you try to pressurize everything.
Instead of listening for leaks, fill a spray bottle with soapy water and spray it on all the joints, hose connections, throttle body shaft etc. The soap will bubblle up wherever you have a leak. You will be surprised how many leaks you find that you could not hear.
try wetting your hand and reaching around your engine bay, IC piping & intake manifold at the same time while you are filling the system with air and see if you can FEEL the air hitting your wet hand. Sometimes big leaks are very quiet because the air is coming out as fast as you can put it in.
I had a hose pop off the back of the manifold and it took me a week to find it until I figured out this little trick.
