Which Turbo spools faster ??
Which Turbo spools faster ??
Hi guys,
I know I have not had many posts, but spend more time on the Aus version of this forum ...
My problem is this ........
(just a quick background: I own a EV0 6 - Jap Spec - with the following mods:- HKS 272 Cams, Monster Intake, Monster Intercooler Pipping, EVO 9 RS Turbo, Tomei Headers, Tomei Cam Gears, Bosch Motor Sport Pump, TEIN Super Street Coilovers, WhiteLine Swaybars, HKS Oil Cooler, Cusco Catch Can, Billion Hoses, B&M short shift gear selector, GFB dual BOV, PWR Radiator, Custom 3" Exhaust & Dump, Work CR Crai 18x8.5+32 Wheels, MOTEC M800 ECU. - The car currently makes over 200kw@the wheels on pump fuel.)
to drive my car is awsome, it has tremendous pull down low. But like most, I am chasing more power. I want to achieve over 300kw @ the wheels on pump fuel.
The reason I'm asking you guys, A) dont really want anyone in AUS to know what I'm doing B) Everyone in AUS says it cant be done, especially the result I want.
C) You guys have probably bolted one of the Turbo's I want on your car...
You see I want over 300 kw, but I dont want to loose the low down grunt I have. Also it needs to be a bolt on unit, everything on my car is JDM bolt on !!! There are many turbo's available here in AUS, and many guys doing big turbo's, well over 300, but they are all so laggy, you may aswell go grab a coffee before the thing spools ... and all of them are running custom inlet, and intercooler piping etc..
I have heard that a HKS turbo can do this, and especially a Kansai Service incarnation. So I am looking at a Kansai Service Turbo ...
here is a link to a site, that sells each version ...
http://www.more-japan.com/Mitsubishi...p-1-c-483.html
can anyone confirm, that this is all truly bolt on product ?
but more importantly, and the reason for my post
Which one should I get??
Kansai Service GT3037S Turbo Kit
or
Kansai Service GT3040 Turbo Kit
or the big
Kansai Service GT3240 Turbo Kit
or is there another product I should be looking at?? (only bolt on please)
Cheers guys, thanks in advance ...
Guys, should I post my dyno sheet, so you can see the grunt I want to keep ... ??

get the 3076, that turbo is a great turbo for 98 octane tune. I vouch for AMS 3076 turbo kit, I love that thing. One of the people around my area made some really good power and the 30r doesn't lag as much as the 35R. You have the 50trim as an option too, but I am aiming for the 3076.
When are you looking to hit full boost? Bc with the 35R its between 3600-4200PRMs good for 775hp, and the 3076's is 3000-3600RPM's and its good up too 650hp. But if I were you I would go with what bkuddah said, with the AMS 3076 turbo kit. Its cheaper then the HKS, and you can go wrong with a turbo kit from AMS when they have the fast drag evo! Bu those HP numbers are for the 8-9's, so I dont know what they will be on the 6. Thanks for all the replies guys.
Just wanted to point out. Our Dyno's down here in Aus must give different readings, your readings are much much higher.
We have a car down here with a EVO Green Turbo. Its producing the same amount of power as mine, on pump fuel. So now that I have seen what this turbo does., its not the one I want ... I'm chasing more power than this.
Best I have seen the EVO Green Turbo produce, is 250Kw @ the wheels, on pump fuel, 1.5 Bar. Thats with a pretty F'n good tune, and a few other bolt-on bits.
I have since been put off the HKS kits, due to the results at the AUS EVONATS.
I think I want something like the Buschur GT3065, or whats the equivalent in the AMS series...

Go with an 82 rear Garrett 3076.
You'll have to get a manifold and dump made up, however i've personally seen 320wkw on 98 pump from a 2L 4G63 with this turbo on 18psi with all the other mods.
Its pretty good for the street, and makes stupid power.
You could even go with the 63 rear for better response, and should still be able to make 290-300ish on around 18-20psi.

You might also check out the Full Race Twin Scroll 3076. The results have been very positive with amazing spool. If you want something from closer to home, check out the Apex-i turbo kit. I have seen the big turbo in action and it is very impressive. It spooled better and was more responsive than my 35R and gave up nothing up top.
Call up Buschurs, tell them what you want you want your car to do and they will put what you need in one box which you can bolt on and you will never look back.
If you do want fast spool and a daily drivable car the FP Green is a decent option. That with the other mods you have could get you close to the 450whp area and should be good for 10's. The other turbos could take you a little faster but it all comes down to what you really want.

Now you see that makes me
There is no F'n way a FP EVO Green Turbo is gonna pull 450WHP with or with out all the mods in the world ... I've seen the best it has to offer here in AUS ... its nowhere near that figure, where are you guys getting these figures ... the BEST MAS it will do is 250KW on pump fuel, it wont even come close to 400 whp.
So the question here is, the numbers I'm quoting you guys, are they totally wrong?
Since most of you seem to think a EVO Green turbo does around 450 WHP, mate I would love that, but it aint gonna happen from a EVO green, not on the DYNO's we have here in AUS ....
Cheers

At the moment I'm tossing up between these 3 turbo's
GT3076 aka 3037
50 Trim - what ever that means, does anyone know the actual GT size for this.
FP3065
These all seem like they spool incredibly fast and make good power.
