Better then 272 cams? need help

Let me give you my mods and then my question really is there any advantage of going from my BC 272 cams to another set of cams and making some more power. The car is still a stock ecu and sean ivey would be the one tuning it more then likely or Turbo Trix

Mods 05 GG MR

BC 272 cams
ETS Upper IC w/ Tial
ETS 3.5 IC
ETS LICP
HKS RS Intake
255 pump
Evo IX Turbo
APS Turbo Back no caat
Quick Time Cutout
Ebay 02 Housing
Ported BR Exhuast Housing
Ported 10.5 housing

Pretty sure that is ever mod. The car made 357 at TT without the BR exhuast manifold, Cutout, ETS IC, ETS UICP, and the HKS intake so im assuming im well into the 360 hp area. Is there any cams like the JUN 272 or HKS 280 or something else that could make more power then the BC 272s. I was just looking and BC just came out with 288's. Im trying to make more power without bolting on a turbo or doing meth.

Thanks for any help guys

I'd stay with what you have. You could possibly pick up a bit more peak power with larger cams, but your mid range and idle will suffer. Not worth the trade off in performance or money wise. Use that money for a different mod.

The specs on the BC 288s look more like there made for a all methanol car. I would say look into a set of GSC cams.
I went from a 280 BC cam to a GSC S2 and picked up about 50 whp

really the GSC are that better huh. I know your car is crazy modded so im sure that much of gain cant be expected on a stock type car but picking up 10 or 15 over the BC 272 would be amazing.

Plain and simple, the BC 272s appear to be good cams, but their timing is far better suited toward big midrange punch rather than peak power, and this makes good sense for street-driven EVOs with factory sized turbos.

In reality, using a set of cam gears to retime these cams is probably worth maybe 15whp or so with a small turbo, and will cost a bit of spool.

Not all cams are ground with the same things in mind.

FWIW, numbers like "272" and "280" mean little when comparing cams from different manufacturers.

again, with your level of mods, and since you already have the BC272's installed, you'd be better off spending the extra money elsewhere. More bang for the buck.

This what we found with the cam gears on the BC 280s we took the intake back -4 and made 15 more whp. Thanks to Teds advice But be aware this moved the power band over 200rpms to the right

Cam gears can be had from any number of vendors. The ones with 5 anchor bolts are better. Here is an example: http://www.stikiller.com/product.php...cat=299&page=1

If I were going to get the most power possible from a set of BC 272s while compromising the least amount of spool, I'd set them at 4 deg retarded on the intake, 2 deg retarded on the exhaust (-4/-2). That will broaden the powerband and clean up the idle a little.
