which turbo, help me decide

well heres my story first off.....i bought a used buschur kit with a garrett gt3076 and the turbo was blown when i got it. then i got a good deal on a pte sc50 and i loved how that turbo felt at 30 psi...but it was pretty much maxed out. well that turbo blew so now i need a new one. I want a turbo that doesnt lagg too bad but still hits hard, my mods are full bolt ons, cams and meth.... thanks guys....

i need something that wil bolt up to my buschur cast manifold i think its a t-4 manifold and i have a t3 adaptor on it (not a 100% tho)

Just buy a 35R. At that get a HTA 35R and it will bolt right up and ur good to go. Go big or go home search around and people with a 35R have no complaints about spool or lag just something people make up seeing they cant get one.

God that is a bad advice above ^^^^^

Lag is real and a 2 litre with GT35 is IMHO not the best combination at all. Dave Buschur himself I believe said he did not like the combination for a daily driver and preferred a Evo Green on a 2 litre.

An Evo Green car will likely make more hp and torque than a GT35R up to 5k rpm.

If you think driving a GT35R on a 2 litre around town, through bends, out of stoplights, etc is more fun than a Evo Green on a 2 litre I think your smoking something probably.

Think of it this way... your car is dead from 1-4k rpm... then at 4k you'll finally be making some power, but still slower than a green. Then finally at 5k she wakes up and is faster than the green, BUT... on pump there probably will never be more than a 100 hp between the two.

It doesnt lag that bad come on now. Ive talked to a lot of people with the 35R as a daily driver and have no complaints. Yea every has there own opinion on a laggy turbo or late spool. But with cams and full bolt ons like he has alteast with the 35R there is room for improvement with out having to worry about going with a bigger turbo. I myself want a TS 35R but at the same time people say going with the green you can make a 11 sec car easy and 10 sec car with a little more work but how long is that turbo going to last maxed out ? While the 35R is going to be barely be workin to put out the same power. But yes it definitely depends on what you want. More torque with quick spool and still a fast car yes go green. But if you want room for improvement with a turbo that spools at 4k instead of 3k then go with the 35R and im sure you will love the pull on that monster.

I dont know what people think of borg warner turbos but i heard someone saying they make a turbo like the 35R but it spools much better. I dont know what type of housing it is but still maybe other options from them also.

Just a note though... once I swapped my 2 litre for a 2.4 with ported head.. added an intake manifold, ported throttle body, better cams, etc... well then it made the GT35R soooooooo much more fun.

Spool improved from full boost at around 5200 rpm to about 4400 rpm. Also make 12 psi below 4k. (3rd gear)

I'd submit that there is probably more than 1k difference in time to full boost between a green and a 35r.

Doesn't matter if you're running 120+ octane oxygenated race fuel... I still think a 35R on a 2 litre is crap for a daily driver.

Dave Buschur's daily driver runs 9's with a GT35R and he still said he liked the Green A LOT more.

Full boost yes srry. Like i said its all personal preference and everyone has there own opinions. I still am not sure what turbo to go with. But he has the dilemma of the t3-t4 manifold. So maybe he should just go with a HTA 3065R. I did hear they were in the process of it so maybe that could be a good compromise for him.

Now with all that in mind seeing he was already running 30 psi that kind of takes the 3065 out the picture and the green even though it wasnt a option in the beginning considering his manifold is t4-t3. So there only so many options if he goes with the 3076 how long you think its really going to last running 30psi ? Thats why i said IMO id go with the 35R. Hes got everything he needs to have it make some good numbers.
