400hp? Advice on how to get there...
What's up guys. Ive got a bone stock 2006 Evo IX. Ive only had it for just over a year, and been serving in Iraq
for the better part of 10 months of that time period.
Anyways, im returning home soon and i want to begin work on the evo, my initial goals are for ballpark of 400whp. Im no idiot when it comes to cars, but I know there are alot of people on this site that have accomplished that and way beyond. So i'm trying to find out what would be the best set up for me to run to get my desired hp.
Any help would be great guys. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work in helping us newbies out.

Regardless of whether or not the guy has used the search button, you guys should have a little more respect. This guy just came back from Iraq--dodging bullets so you panzy asses can make cutsie pictures and post them on the internet rather then help someone out in a more mature manner.
Do all of your supporting mods. Open up the intake (filter or complete intake); the exhaust (turbo-back preferably); boost controller, get a better fuel pump; cams, proper tune, etc. One of the easiest things you can do is rather than search on this site take a look at the mod sequences on the Burschur website or the AMS website. It's probably the eastiest thing you can do.

depends on how much $$$ you want to spend and if you want that 400hp as a daily driver?
Stock turbo will get you to 400hp but thats on race gas or meth injection...
If you want that kind of power on straight pump gas you are going to want an upgraded turbo, nothing to crazy, a 50trim or 3076r will get you there on pump...
Good luck and glad you're coming home!

The guy's been gone for almost a year, serving even YOU, and comes back and on his first post he simply asks a question. Give the guy a break.
Your "tours" overseas and your overall military service hasn't taught you much has it? Were you a pencil pusher?

well, if you spend that much time over there and dont learn anything, you arent over there with your eyes open. You learn a lot... You get to know yourself and the type of person you are, and then you get to see on a daily basis how lucky you are to live in the US and not over there and have to deal with what we'd consider living in a landfill on a daily basis....
all we deserve for being over there and doing are jobs is a thank you for your service to our country, a pat on the back showing appreciation and a congratulations for making a safe return and enjoy your time here while preparing to go back again.

i have a 9 mr and im trying to do the same thing on stock turbo. so far i got all the main bolt ons. turbo back 02 fuel pump. test pipe. intake, intercooler. im getting some upper and lower pipes fitted on my car soon. im deployed in iraq too so it has to wait till i get back. i agree with 2much, to get that number on a stock turbo its gonna have to be with race gas or meth. im also looking for a good meth kit to put on mine. i been searching for a good set of cams but i contacted turbotrix and they said they havent found any good set worth putting on. i trust there opinion. i had my car tuned there and i was satified. i think the tune will be a big facter on reaching that number.good luck on ur project and have a safe trip home.
DO A SEARCH NOOOOB!!!
Haha, just kidding. I used to get that all the time on 3si.org. EvoM is a million times better.
I'm not exactly an expert tuner, but there are alot of ways to get there. 400whp is a little more difficult on a stock turbo, but it certainly can be done.
If I were going for the 400whp mark, my mod list would be something like this:
1. Intake pipe with filter (Buschur, ETS, AMS ~ $200)
2. 3" Turbo back exhaust (Ebay - surprisingly good quality ~$350)
3. Ported 02 housing (Got mine from Titek ~ $200)
4. Ported exhaust manifold (Buschur ~$190)
5. New Upper intercooler piping, lower intercooler pipe, and intercooler (ETS ~ $840)
6. Walbro 255lph fuel pump (~$100)
7. Boost gauge/controller (I have AEM Tru Boost ~$280)
8. Wideband A/F gauge/controller (AEM UEGO ~ $275)
9. Cams (GSC, HKS, Cosworth, etc. $650)
10. A good tune. (Mellon, Buschur, AMS, etc. $150 - $400)
That stuff should get you damn close on 93 pump with stock turbo. Upgrading the turbo to 20g or GT3076R would easily get you there. Those mods plus race gas, or Alky/Meth injection would also easily get you there on stock turbo.
Hope that helps and thanks for serving
