10psi 1st/2nd gear....30++++psi 3/4/5th gear. HELP!
Hey all, just thought I'd try and help out a guy in my area, who's having some major issues with his evo 8.
Keep in mind, his car was my friends old car. It ran just fine when he traded it in to a dealer to upgrade to a evo IX MR. Anyway, the mods on the 8 are just a TB exhaust (test pipe, now it's developed a audible leak around the test pipe) as well as a hallman mbc and injen hardpipes, IX bov. When flooring it, in 1st and 2nd gear it hits about 8-10psi with the mbc cranked all the way down. The MBC is tee'd off the bov, fyi. Yet in 3rd-5th gear, the boost just skyrockets to 30+++++ psi. He says he's check all the connections multiple times, but must be missing something.
One other thing that I noticed when I rode with him is that the IX bov seems to flutter ALOT even at low boost in 1-2nd gears.
I really think that someone messed with the car at the dealership. But he was also in a major front end accident recently as well, and the body shop that put his car back together did a horrid job with the intake especially. Most clamps weren't even tight, and there was no clamp over the filter that attaches to the piping.
Anyway, looking for ideas/suggestions guys. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Actually, I'll still have him take a look at the MBC. One thing I didn't state previously though, is he's already tried hooking a different mbc up, and it did the same exact thing.
