If you stick with the 264's you may be able to get by, but with 272's and up the overlap causes a bit of misfire at idle which will definitely cause the car to fail the sniffer.

Yes I have. And honestly, It was as hard as getting 400 dollars, and finding a smog tech with little to no teeth.

There are quite a few im sure. I actually just answered a Q like this, but it was in Colorado. Does CA require you to do a tailpipe test like you were doing an OBD I car? Most states just plug the emissions machine into the cars ECU and turn the key to the on position and read the ECU. As long as your not throwing any codes you should pass, but if they do a tailpipe test than the cams could screw you up. When you need to do emissions you could just put the stock exhaust and converter on and that might clean up the air enough to pass.

Or you could do that, but the states have been sending agents out quite a bit to watch emission stations. There really no repercussion to you if you do it, but the tech gets fined a hefty amount and hence the 400 dollars. I had to do this once with my 240 and it cost me 175 bucks.
