Take a look at the starting AIT. That will give you a good idea of what the ambient temperature is. From briefly looking at that thread, the BR race FMIC rises about 15*F when the starting temp is ~80*F.
I did read that thread but I was just asking because I don't think you can compare dyno pulls to the road.

I still contend the very best way to test intercoolers is to simply have people who run standalones to post their intake air temps, along with ambient temps, rpm, and boost. I tried starting threads on this but got like 3 replies. Yet threads like this get 100's of replies. It's annoying.

Big respect to Buschur Racing for posting what they did which seems to be the best data we've seen on the board for intercoolers.

I'm surprised none of the moderators have dished out points to users on this thread. I was trying to find useful information on this thread and it was very difficult as it was diluted by nonsense from your bickering. Shame on you tut tut lol

I think I'm going to go for the AMS intercooler. Now whose going to call me stupid?

We have the buschur race on our 9 sec evo. It gained 62whp over the turboXs. But that was at 40 psi on a PT67. I would say go with a 4" car from Buschur, AMS or ETS. As far as I know, they all use the same precision core.

Your going to love my old ETS 5" Intercooler. Ill send ya some logs of temps here today

Yes, you may not be able to get a direct comparison, but it will be very close. If anything, the numbers on the street will be better than what is seen on the dyno. So if the BR Race FMIC has a 15*F temp increase starting at 80*F on the dyno, then it may only be 10*F on the street due to more air flow and a higher air speed.

But at the end of the day, all the numbers posted in that link have the same commonality....they are all numbers that come from cooling from the same fan. So the numbers are very useful.

Not sure I totally agree because on a dyno that fan is running all the time so there is no chance for heat soak. Most people doing a pull on the street for logging purposes will turn around, stop for a bit, then do a pull. So it just depends.

Dave's numbers are very useful because they are all the same. I was just saying the only data I have on my intercooler is road data, so I was asking Dave for road data. No biggie at all. I'm pretty pleased with the APS.

I usually cruise around to find a straight piece of road before I do a pull, so I'm sure heat soak isn't a problem for me.

But we can agree to disagree.

I haven't read any of this thread but just wanted to post up a quick log. I have a generic no name 2.5" core on my car with coolingmist alcohol injection, not spraying much denatured alcohol at all I think it is an 8 gph nozzle I don't know what it is in CC. This is with a small 35R @ 28 or 29 psi. Ambient temp around 65*. Anyways enjoy.

You can't go wrong with that decision. Definitely a good choice.

Well, with a built engine, 35r, built head and a 4" FMIC core my car went 9.65 at 151 on street tires in full street trim, so when you match that then you'll know that you made the right choice in the parts you chose.

xiaoni420, you're in Ohio? With you being that close to us it pains me to see your signature.

Maybe he moved or he bought the car from IL?

Dave is he allowed 200 dyno pulls and 100 passes at the track to get that time too?

And street tires? Come on now. Your on an Evo board. Street tires are something you'd actually drive on the street.

Awh David I didn't mean to upset you. I'm finishing off grad school over there in Bowling Green, I'm not actually from there. Every time I drive back home to PA though I do think about you guys when I pass Norwalk and the general Wakeman area.
