Yes, you can run your car off of propane w/o it blowing up. It is really no more dangerous than rolling around with a large metal tank filled with flammable gasoline.
It burns extremely clean, your oil stays cleaner, longer.
Your engine wear is reduced.
You don't get nasty carbon build up in your intake from the EGR.

Even worse news, gasoline is a by-product.

iI gasoline burnt cleaner than propane, we would be using regular unleaded to grill our dogs, burgers and steaks.
what about the lubrication propities of fuel thesedays?? would running Propane increase the were on the engine??

thanks

Chris.

I do believe propane decreases wear on the engine.

well to take full advantage of the on paper incresae in octane you would want more timing. this might make up for the slight loss in power.

not sure if there is any differance in manufactures tunes on true dual fule cars.

thanks Chris.

The reason for using propane on a gasoline engine is a bit different that that of a diesel.
In reality, the propane is a gas by the time it gets in your engine, so as far as fuel, it only is a small contributor, although it is a high "octane" rating. The main benefit is that as it changes from a liquid to a gas, it consumes a large amount of energy and really is used to significantly cool the intake charge air.
Propane is just as safe as a tank full of gasoline...RV's use them all the time. In fact proper cannisters carry a DOT stamp.

Propane isnt as bad as everyone is putting it out to be. The 3000GT VR4 guys have been doing propane injection for quite some time now. The propane averages 113 octane rating, and is really cool when it get injected. The only thing is they do not convert the whole car to run it, they inject it simialar to nitrous or meth. It is just as safe or safer to carry in a vehicle versus a nitrous tank

^ +1.

It has been done for a long time in old school turbo cars... like Grand Nationals. Quite popular with that crowd in fact. Does this mean it's the next big things in '08 for Evos? No. But it has been done, with excellent success for more than a decade, maybe two, and contrary to how some of you make it sound, is not like driving around with a trunk full of grenades with loose pins.

umm, we could gut the car so the rear bulkhead is open and the trunk is exposed from the cabin, then put 25 gallons of some type of fuel in Blitz containers back there and not tie them down, then go rally driving on bumpy roads while smoking cigs and trying to flip the butts out the sunroof and windows without taking our hands off the controls?
i have done this btw... minus the smoking part
