2.4l 4g63

For those of you running the 2.4l on a 63 block, when you built yours (if you did it yourself, i guess would be ideal...lol) what did you file your ring gaps to? I have mine loose for the most part. and wanted to see what others run. in addition to that what have you done to the head and what turbo did you pick?

i've never heard of a 2.4 using a 2.3 block...perhaps someone else could chime in.

I was under the impression that the 2.3 uses the 4g63 2.0 block along with the 2.4 4g64 crank. The 2.4 is the actual 4g64 block with the 4g64 crank. I may be mistaken though...

exactly what i was thinking....there's the DE-stroked 2.1, which you can do to a 4g64 2.4 block.

but i've never heard of a 2.4 stroker.

i never paid attention to the 4g64 stuff, i have a billet crank it very well could be machined to the same specs as a stock 4g64 crank.

The Brian Crower crank is 102mm, whereas a 100mm crank (typically 4G64 OEM) is used for 2.3 and 2.4 strokers. IIRC, there were some rod clearance issues with the 102mm crank out of the box.

Am I the only one who would like to see numbers on this kit? I imagine the extra .2 should do somehting worth while.

I'm not quite following if you're building a 2.3 stroker (4g63 block with 4g64 crank), or a 2.1 or 2.4 stroker (4g63 head, 4g64 block and crank), but regardless you should have gotten specs with the piston and ring set from the manufacturer. If not, you can contact the piston manufacturer and get their recommendations for your setup. Once you get into these setups, what's stock is irrelevant.

I honestly don't remember my ring gaps. I'll look and see if I still have the literature from Wiseco for my pistons.

i think you mis-understood me. i got off the shelf JE ring sets, i just want to know what ring gaps y'all are running. its just a curiosity question. it really doesnt do much for me i built the motor in october and finished the install last month. ive just had a timing issue since. i just want to know if anyone else did a 'loose is fast' build like me. which when you think about it means...opps i shaved too much off.

IIRC, some people thought there would be side loading issues with the pistons. But since I've never built an engine, I could be entirely wrong.
