Service Engine Soon

I Was Driving Home Yesterday, And My Service Engine Soon Light Came On. Just Wondering What Is The Different Between The Check Engine Light And The Service Engine Soon Light? And What Should I Do? Can I Get A Code From Autozone? Any Informaton Will Be Helpful.

Service Engine Soon = Preventative Maintenance so something doesnt break prematurely

Check Engine Light = Something is wrong most likely

They are both the same as far as the evo is concerned. The evo has no maintenance lights that I am aware of like a Honda does. Different manufacturers have different ways of letting you know the ECU threw a code and the evo has "Service Engine Soon".

The question was answered in general as to what the difference is since he asked the question in general instead of being "Evo Specific" I answered it in general.

I own an EVO and I know that there is no "Maintenance" Light. Only a Check Engine...

P0300 Code - Cylinder Misfire

So just change your plugs and see if it comes back again if it does then you might want to check your coils or plug wires. If you got good scanner you could actually detect which CYL misfire occurred and go from there. Snap-On scanner could do that.

I bought mine on sale for about $50- it wil read and clear codes but it doesn't tell me what the code is. I have that same code pop up every now and again, but after taking it to the dealer several times and having the thing pop codes once then not do it again for a couple of months,it was $50 well spent. Previous owner changed plugs then dealer put new plugs then coils then injectors then injector cleaner. After all was said and done, there's nothing wrong.

PS if you get the one that doesn't give you the code here's the link to the thread with codes
