FP-GRN w/oem int vs. Weapon-R on 91 oct.
the intake was ok, i went aheald & rewelded (actaully a friend of mine did the welding), along all the seams where the welds were ground away / polished.
i had to remove some welding flash inside every runner to airhorn section.
you need to bend your oil dipstick tube to make fit...that took the longest time...damn, i removed teh oem intake in less time than it took me to get the dip stick tube bent the way i wanted it!!
i also had to trip about 1/2 off the oem uicp rubber piece thaat connects to the tb....i am still running a large oem battery.
i suggest getting heater core extension lines, as the oem water lines run very close to the plenum...i dont want any heat transfer from theose warm lines.

this sounds like a lot of reworking on a new manifold.. grinding away flash and rewelding???? new lines.. bending tubes....????
. poorly built and poorly designed...

There was no review on the said item, other than popped welds & i was able to pick-up a new unit for next to nothing...
See how this thread brought awareness to you. The concept of the forums work
considering the cost & the performance potential that i saw within the weapon-r mani, i went for it. 30 minutes of welding & 15/20 minutes with a carbide cutter & cartridge roll didnt appear to be overwhelming to me. I am sure for some people, it is.
Besides, its fair to say that over 90% of the people on these boards like to tinker & thats what i did.
as far as grinding away material...hell, i do that to oem parts...does that make them poorly built & poorly designed??? not in my mind..no, i just want to make things better...as a matter of fact, most of the non-oem items on my car are fabbed & built by me..i enjoy it.
thanks for your opinion
I was trolling around the internet for price differences between the weapon-r mani & the magnus and it seems the magnus can be had for about a 100 dollars more than the weapon-r. Would the magnus mani be safer to purchase for us non "diy'ers"?
