Air Intake Help

Hey Guys,
I just got my evo the other day and i absolutely love it! The car is pretty much stock and I am looking to get some more power. I have been looking at different air intakes and I am unsure which ones are the best. I do not know too much about air intakes however I have read that it should have a heat shield to help keep away engine heat. Correct or not? Also do most setups include a spot for the mas? That may be a really dumb question...Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

My only advise to you is that if you're deciding to do full boltons, ie. intake, turboback exhaust, mbc, etc..... I suggest you do it all at once because the evo doesn't repond well to bolt-ons without a tune, you could run into lean conditions or it just might run like $hit.

So my next question would be what is the best way for me to make power without getting it tuned. I was interested in the Injen intake with the upper and lower ic piping however im a little bit skeptical as to if my car will respond positively to this without a tune.

these cars will not make much power w/out a tune. it's not like the old days when u adjusted a carb & went from 13's to 11's. the power potential lies in the ECU...

which ever intake youre getting or mod, you still need to get it tune. You will see a difference once your car is tuned!

With the Injen kit, you'll need t-bolt clamps.

I'm not a big fan of oiled filters for cars with MAF sensors. I run an Apex'i w/ aluminum box but will be switching to a 4" AEM dryfilter to use with my turbo kit.

get the intake and all the other basic mods... and get a tune after. u will gain some power with juz basic bolt ons but not as much. a Tune up basically brings out the full potential of all the aftermarket parts u've installed and the car with it. But remember.. make sure ur satisfied with all the parts u have before thinking of tuning ur car. have fun modding bro. ( oh and i would go for the injen lol. but imo a drop in is good enuff )
