Making a DIY cold air intake shield
Making a DIY cold air intake shield
Hey guys,
I am looking to make a shield, similar to this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...d-testing.html
, but smaller, to mainly prevent water getting into the filter from the middle of the engine bay vent.
What do you guys think about using ABS or PVC for this job? It will be pretty easy to bend, glue(if needed) and drill it.
Can the air temps have some effect on the ABS/PVC? I know PVC melting point is about ~300F.
Let me know, give me some ideas.
Thank you!

ABS plastic has been shown to have less heat-soak as opposed to aluminum, that's why so many intake manifolds are plastic in modern cars.
Would be worth a shot, even still aluminum sheets are really cheap too!
Post up some pics when your done I'm thinking about doing this as well!
