stock intercooler upperpipe problem...

I finally got tuned yesterday, and let me first off say..I cant believe i waited so long..F-ing amazing..With that being said..Now the problem..My upper intercooler pipe keeps blowing off..I know evryone is gonna say "go buy an aftermarket one",and im going to..But, i have to wait a few weeks..Ran outta money with Christmas and everything..But, is there a better clamp i can buy??Instead of the crappy stock ones, that might hold better??If so,where can i buy one at??Thanks..Justin

Don't need hairspray, but T-bolt clamp is your friend!! I changed over to those when I had my stock pipes and they held like a champ at 23 psi. Good luck

true that they will not blow off but if you over-tighten t-bolts, they WILL create a leak. it's kinda hard to tell when you've reached a good torque for t-bolts because they don't stop until they reach the bottom of the threads.

i am using stock clamps and am doing 28+psi. no problems with anything blowing off. i just have them tightend to where the rubber hose just kind of flares out. no leaks whatsoever. i've used t-bolts too and have switched them out back to stock clamps. all my problems with leaks were solved after that.

i have noticed that stock clamps can handle more torque than any aftermarket clamps (ie: autoparts store clamps) with the only exception of the goodyear wormdrive clamps. (different design to prevent stripping.)

another thing...the only place that would really benefit from t-bolts is where the outlet pipe/lower intercooler hose is.

LOL can you elaborate on the t bolt clamps making leaks. I didn't know a tighter seal makes leaks. I know that you can bend a lot of cheaper aluminum pipes that way.

T-bolt clamps wont hold it if grease or oil is on the intake pipe. If it keeps blowing off with a t-bolt, use brake cleaner to clean the surface off... then spray a lot of hairspray, then tighten clamp. Let it dry & it wont ever pop off again

The right size T-clamps work great for me, anyone have a solution for the stock hose bulging out and contacting the fan short of after market hoses?

You are the first I have heard of that. Make sure all hoses are pushed in far enough. More if you have to. It comes close but not that close.

Might be commen sense but make sure when you tighten the clamp its parallel with the end of the hose. This will give full clamping power.
