K&N drop in filter or AMS Cone Style K&N Filter and Adapter

Which one would you guys recomend? Will it make a lot of difference? You see I have been reading the forums and I came to the conclusion that I am going to buy me the Jdm mr blow off valve with one of the above...but I don't know since it's only like a $5 difference...And another thing is I bought a hks MBC but it did not come with the instructions...I have been trying to see how it installs but no luck.

I like the K & N drop in, keeps it looking stock (from what i understand, the stick air box is good to ~400hp), protected filter and easy to maintain. If you want a mod look, than go with the cone I guess. Good luck....

I noticed a better audible level on the turbo whine at about full spool through about 5200rpm. Not an overbearing change, but a noticable one. Take note that I am stock on about everything else except my boost levels and dune particlars (ir no loud exhaust system, etc.)

If that is the case, a 20G is not an option!!! Upgrade and then wear earplugs if you must!!

Rather than starting new thread, I'm bringing this back to get a few more opinions on drop-in filter vs AMS Cone Style K&N Filter/Adapter.

I'm going with the AMS cone filter. Hopefully a good choice...

I tried the K&N cone filter, but didn't like the inlet temperature increases. Tried a couple of sheilds, but they were only good for knocking off about 5*. I ended up going back to the stock air box with a K&N panel. On the average it will run 10* cooler. I do miss the turbo sounds though.

Me personaly, I prefer the stock airbox with a drop in. I can't stand the sound of a cone filter on an evo, it just sounds like a huge air leak!. I also feel as the bottom end is just a tad stronger with the box versus the cone. the only advantage I could tell with the cone was the top end. to me the 5hp gain on the top was not worth the annoying sound and the loss in bottom end.
just my .02

I'd go with the Amsoil. The Perrin is higher maintenance (requires oil to filter) and the Amsoil has better filtration and almost identical performance.

Sound and makes it look stock

Redneck way, keep box drill enough countersunk holes on coldest side of box to equal inlet then hv dbl flow for same throaty sound.
