I personally enjoy driving a storker 2.3L with a larger turbo on the street. Unfortunatlly, the larger the turbo you run, the more RPM you will need to see the real advantages of the larger turbo. With a stroker engine, it is a common practice not to rev the engine as high. I rev my 2.3L engine to 8300, but I also run a smaller turbo that comes on earlier and has a very broad powerband (35r variant). I have seen guys run 40R and larger turbos with 2.3L engines, and they make good power, and are "fun" to drive. Good luck!
The thing is that when you start using turbos that big are more set up for drag racing unless you are running boost upwards of 27 psi. You will expect to see that turbo wake up around 6000 rpm on 2.0 liter and about 300 rpms sooner on a 2.3 liter. Yes you can do it with a 2.3 but your rev is way better on a 2.0 because you can rev to 10,000 rpm if your block is built right.
I have talked to many shops about this, I am going with a gt42 when it gets warmer and they all said 2.0 or 2.1 because of the rpm's. You are going to need the rpms to get the "maximum" potential out of that turbo though I know people using a 2.3/2.4 with gt40's and gt42's and doing it well. I am going with a 2.0, I will sacrifice a few hundred rpm's of spool for 1500+rpms of full spool. Just my opinion though.
2.3 all the time! reving a 2.0ltr to 10k isn't pretty. take a look at some of ifarted2 threads on his bearings!
for anyhting other than an all out drag engine go for the stroker. a forged crank setup can easily rev over 8K all day long and i dont just mean at the drags, i mena doing lap after lap of hard track driving!
2.3/4ltr setups have been proven to work GREAT with anyhting upto a 42rs.
what ever happened to the US saying, "no replacement for displacement "????????
Chris.

why a GT40..
I'd think a GT37R with a 2.3 would be the max considering a 2.3
If using anything bigger than a 37R I'd strongly suggest a 2.0 or 2.1!
for street driven though..that 37R and 2.3 combo should be fine. Dan Bajalis on here went 9.7@148mph on this setup!
