Transfor case seals

I just got my 05 EVO out of the shop for the 3rd time in 1 1/2 yrs for the same thing. I had a minor diff fluid/transmission fluid lk according to the Mitsu dealership it is the seals between the differential and the transfer case. it is the seals that stop the diff fluid from going into tran fluid. Does this sound correct? Has anyone had this same problem? Im hoping this does not happen anymore.

YES.. there are two o-rings on the t-case whereit mounts to the tranny... it is very common for those to fall out/or get torn and leak.. not a big deal tofix

So both O rings got damaged? Could it be just one?

Hey guys:

If you need part #'s for any of the transfer case seals hit me up with a PM; I just ordered a set for installation of my rebuilt TC.

Unfortunately, I'm too familiar with this whole process.

doesnt matter... if you replace replace them both.. as soon as you take it off the tranny they stare you in the face.

You'd have to remove the transfer case to replace/install the o-ring.

9 Hours seems like a lot of time too.

Good luck.

Remove wheels
Unbolt suspension
Remove cotter pins & castle nuts
Pound axles through hubs with rubber mallet or air hammer
Remove axles
Remove stub axles with slap hammer
Unbolt tcase from tranny (if ACD, unbolt & tie off ACD line)
Replace seals
Repeat in reverse (if ACD, bleed ACD with key on, foot on gas for 10 seconds. refill w/ dextron iii as needed)

Well finally deciding to do it myself, due to the cost of almost 1000 dollars that the sucky shops and dealerships around here want to charge me.

For all of you guys who have done this how long did it take? This will be my first attempt but pretty mechanically inclined and all the tools.
