The mitsu dealer parts shop will get the oring #'s for you. They are alot more reasonable people than the service folks.

Well im deep into it.. and no big problems yet, got my axles out. One of these threads told me to take off the center beam(the one that runs from front to back of car) off, but that has a motor mount on it. That makes no sense to me.

will the transfer case come out without removing that?

Have you moddified your tranny or transfer case at all? Sounds to me like you have a ligitimate gripe to call Mistu corporate about. They have to prove that the mods that you put on caused the failure and since they have already worked on the same problem three times you fall under the lemon law. Check it out.

Ouch. Sounds like the splines on the axle have worn out and it's slipping, also causing it to leak...
I had a similar problem with my car, but my axle actually came out on the right side

Try spraying some lube in the o-rings so everything slides together easier.

Can transmission fluid get into the transfer case through the o-ring seals? Is this possible?

I'm pretty sure my transmission fluid was leaking into the tcase when i did my clutch 2 weeks ago. When I drained the fluids, the rear diff was clear yellow but both my tranny and tcase fluids were murky brown. there doesn't seem to be an external leak. Do I have to fix this or is this fine?

I had the same thing. Both looked the same but i do have an external leak. This is the reason for the teardown.

I pulled the Tcase back and both of those seals were in good shape from what i seen. But in the process of of draining my fluids i found that my tranny was transfering fluid to my Tcase. There was 1.2 qrts in my Tcase. I have decided to have shep rebuild it.

Your having the same problem as I did. I thought it was the seals...they where replaced, turned out to be a crack between where the t-case bolts into the tranny:

I know its hard to see but it was a hairline crack. Sent It out to shep and they took care of me. Make sure you tell them your exact promlem. Hope this helps out!
