Would it be best to run the hks cams and timing gears with this kit?

Will the FMIC need upgraded?

Will you make a package to include the greddy e-01?

Will this work on the stock exhaust?

Injector upgrade, pump upgrade, ignition upgrade needed?

Just a couple questions, I am curious on what else would be needed for the kit to run the 450 hp. That is my target number for a daily driver. I have 94 oct available in Ohio. thanks
-Yes this kit will run with stock internals up to around 450 front wheel HP

-The stock ECU can be retained with the use of an E-manage or S-AFC II

-We would definately recommend the HKS cams, the gears are optional

-An Intercooler upgrade will help you realize teh true potential of our turbo kit but once again is not "required"

-We will most definately be offering a pre-mapped E-Manage unit as an option to the turbo kit (it will be mapped for use with our recommended injector upgrade)

-Right now we are still up the air as to whether or not we will terminate the downpipe to connect to the stock cat or a 3" or to eliminate it. We are open to your suggestions/opinions

-The injector upgrade will be an option with the E-manage or seperately, a walbro 255 lph HP pump will be required

I hope that this helps you out, if not please tell us what you want in this kit and we will do our best to tailor it to your suggestions.

I dont have my EVO yet but I may be able to pick up a 04' Model next year. My goals will be to run 11.5 1/4 mile times on the high boost setting reliably and be able to keep the car a daily driver.

If your kit can help me get there I'll sure give the AMS kit a shot.

450 WHP sounds nice....

I think Al made 11.6 with a little over 400 WHP, someone correct me if I'm wrong

Uh, Whoever made that manifold needs to read a book on turbocharging.

That one collector is way to long, you are going to create some very bad exhaust pulses..

It looks nice, but is not executed correctly.

see http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books for more some more technical information. Even tho that book is old, it should point you in the right direction.

Don't worry, I already have that book and many others. This motor is not a NA Formula 1 engine, but a turbo motor so it is not as critical to have equal length headers. You can more than make up for the difference by running 1 more psi of boost. If you look in our fabrication section http://www.automotosports.com/service_fab.asp
you can see a header we developed. I'm just in the process of dyno tuning the car (Eagle Talon) running that header, 610whp at 23psi of boost. I've worked with log style, tubular, and cast manifolds of many types and I very familiar with how they react in turbocharged applications. I will continue to do what I've been doing so far, dyno testing and backing my results up with track times/speed. I won't release a product that doesn't work, I just won't do that. I look forward to producing some stunning results with our turbo kit.

BTW the test turbo is a Garrett GT32 turbo

Regards,

Martin

Martin said it best - on a turbo car, especially one with a manifold this short, the equal vs unequal length really does not make a significant difference until we are talking the sheer upper ranges of horsepower.

I personally love that its an internal wastegate, which in and of itself is a reason the kit will be reasonably priced I think!

I have to agree with silverevo8 about the 1st cylinder pipe being to long. I Personally wont by this kit because of the HUGE length difference. It might not make that big of a difference but in the long run it will. Please AMS dont ruin this turbo kit with an inferior exhaust manifold when the rest of the kit sounds so great. It seems like it would be an easy fix to make them all closer to even. Why is the 1st cylinder pipe reaching the furthest to the turbo when it can be switched with another?
