I have a question concerning catch cans. I'm about to get a catch can for a great price. If engine needs to be vented and some oil vapors go to the catch can, wouldn't the engine loose oil overtime? I've driven my car for around 20K without a catch can and I haven't lost any oil. If it goes back through the intake tract or diverted to the catch can, shouldn't I be loosing oil? Why didn't Mitsubishi have the oil vapors go through a catch can, vent the air and have the oil trickle by back into the oil pan? I was just curious.

Even if it goes back into the intake manifold, the oil gets burned and relased through with the exhaust.
I think car companies dont put catch cans on because most consumers wouldnt pay attention to the catch can and will end up over filling etc...
The evo doesnt suck out too much oil vapors. I previously owned an srt-4 and those cars needed a catch can badly! I had the 20 dollar do-it-yourself catch can, and it filled half way full every 2 weeks (~400 miles driven)!

A Catch can on the PCV side will get about 2 cork cans of oil over an oil change period....

If your catch can isn't collecting oil it is either installed wrong or designed wrong. There is no way that a properly designed and installed catch can would not collect any oil in 7K miles on an EVO.

there is not really anything "wrong" with the cusco. it might catch some oil. but imo it's basically just a really expensive coolant overflow tank remarketed as a oil catch tank with no baffle element in it AFAIK that is needlessly oversized for its purpose. read my write up and you will see what i mean.

yeah i did. i want something flashy though. im tryin to keep it clean and flashy under the hood. i just started putting in alot of polished parts and upgraded stuff to add some appeal to the engine bay. thats the only reason i want a cusco or something of the sort
