Need Help Forge WGA
Need Help Forge WGA
I have an Evo 9 Forge WasteGate Actuator. It came from a member on here and has the Red Spring. I cant get it to stop boosting and holding round 24-25psi even with my Hallman Manual Controller turned all the way down! Which Spring do i need to hold 21-22psi? Also where can i get it the quickest? Thankx guys.
Ps. Yes i know search but im at work and am not even suppose to be on the computer. Thankx again.

Could you give us a little more detail please? Is it spiking over 24-25 PSI when the MBC is at its lowest setting? Was it fine before? Did you only swap the stock WGA for the Forge unit? How do you have the vacuum/boost lines connected? Did you eliminate the factory BCS as well as the stock hoses?
It was on a stock WGA with the stock evo 8 turbo. Changed over to a evo 9 turbo and came with this Forge WGA. Always has been on the Hallman and spiked 22-23psi and held 21-22psi. Thats what it was tuned for.
I never thought bout the Vaccum line! I did have to go back to a stock evo 9 LICP so i had to change the vaccum source back to the nipple on the LICP instead of having it t'd into my intake mani and BOV. Dont get how this could effect it but....
I figured it was just cause i had that Red Spring(most stiff)? Dont they make 2 or 3 different Springs for the Forge?

I just finished my Forge WGA install. I changed nothing else but that WGA and had to turn the Hallman MBC down. I figured during the work I did, I may had bumped the Hallman but I have turn it down a few turns. There is no way I bumper it that far. I usually set it to about 21 to 22 PSI. It was past that. I think it have it adjusted fine now. The stock one may had had issues or a leak. It will be fun to see how it holds when I test it more.

So, did you just swap the IX turbo complete with Forge WGA onto your car? Maybe the previous owner of that turbo/WGA combo had WG preload set at a boost level higher than your desired peak boost setting. Thus, your MBC would be unable to adjust boost below whatever preload level he has the WG set to.
To determine what the preload is, just run a hose directly from the compressor outlet discharge tube nipple to the port on the top of the WGA. This takes the MBC out of the circuit and lets you know what the WG is preloaded to.
Depending on what boost reading you observe, you´ll need to either lengthen or shorten the wastegate´s threaded actuator rod, until you achieve a wastegate preload of anywhere from 14 through 18 PSI. 17 Psi of preload is good. It provides fast spool and allows the MBC to control boost above 17# through whatever higher peak boost setting you may choose(22 PSI, etc.?).

Just got back around to reading on this. I put the stock one back on for now cause i had work the next day.
Sparky i think you hit it head on!! Thankx! Wastegate was loaded pretty good. Putting it back down and trying to install it back on Wed.
vvhiteix It was spiking higher than my gauge would read so i dont know exactly how high, but was holding 25psi almost all the way to redline.
