Stock turbo - how much boost???

Hey guys,

i drive a evo9 and was wonder whats the maximum boost the stock turbo can manage and what power will i end up with? Currently running upgraded IC, 3" exhaust and methanol injection (just installed-no tuning yet).

Was considering to upgrade to a 20G or Evogreen.... What are the expected hp gains over the stock turbo?

get tuned is all i have to say. He will take care of the boost. Prob higher 20's with the meth, but you must wait for the tune. Meth can be sketchy and it seems you dont know much about your car. Find a local tuner and get on top of that because the ic is throwing the af off also.

An Evo Green is a 20g. I would search the forums a little more before you get in over your head. Check out the Alky Injection forum for more info on alky and boost levels.

the stock turbo can support around 450 hp with race gas or meth/alky
i put down 350 with simple bolt ons on pump gas 23 psi
i ran up to 26 psi on race
you can do about 30 psi with a good hi octane /meth tune

How much boost you run is dependent on your tune, just get it tuned for what ever psi your going to run. Ive seen guys say they've run as much as 30+psi on stock 9 turbos but they also have supporting mods to accomodate that pressure.

You should have more mods than you listed before running methanol injection or higher boost. You should have an 02 housing, lower intercooler pipe, some sort of boost controller, fuel pump, and of course, have it tuned. Your tuner will set the boost at the appropriate level.

Also, there are a bunch of "20G" turbos floating around. The only one worth getting is the 20G-LT sold by Buschur Racing. It is also sold by Forced Performance as the "FP Green."

Also, before I bought a Green for your IX, Id make sure you have EVERY single bolt on including cams, upper IC piping (lower of course), ported exhaust manifold, etc, otherwise you wont take much advanatage.

i was considering getting the Green once i got my meth kit, but a lot of people say that i'll gain around 30 hp compared to the stock 9 turbo. try getting as much out of the stock 9 turbo and then see if you want more power.

yes i have a walbro, and AVCR boost controller, O2 housing, upper IC piping, lower IC pipe on order. Running stock internals

How much boost can the stock internals take? I want to squeeze every thing i can with out breaking anything.

just remember get supporting mods, the right fuel and a tune...
also, boost as much as you want but the stocker will run out of breath around 28-30 psi. it all depends.

Just turn it all the way up. Don't worry, it'll be fine.

I also run nothing but race gas and I have meth but that's disconnected. I only connect it when I go on road trips so I can run crap 91

Going from an AVC-R, back to a Manual Boost Controllers, is like going back to the Stone Age.

AVC-R is one of the Greatest Boost Controllers ever made, .

I use the Greddy E-01. Similar Gizmo, newer Technology.
