Normal Oil Pressure?
i just installed my Defi BF Oil Pressure Gauge. i noticed when i'm idling in neutral or when i have the clutch pressed in my oil pressure is around 20 psi, sometimes lower around 10-15 psi. when i'm cruising my oil pressure is around 80 psi. are these normal readings? what should i have my warning light set to? thanks.

yea sounds normal... is the 80psi when its cold? because mine normally chills around 60psi when im cruising on the freeway around 3k rpms when the engine is fully warmed up... also after some freeway driving mine goes as low as 1-5psi at idle.. lol

Yeah, at idle I was around 5-10 depending on the incline and the temp of the car, supposedly the 4g63 idles notoriously low (doesn't sound all that low, considering nothing is happening with the engine, but my Porsche idles at 30-40 psi). At freeway and full throttle etc it was between 50 and 80 usually, also depending on load, 80 seems to be common between most cars. What you need to watch for (and recording with the Defi-Link helps for this) is it dropping under load or in high speed areas (Mainly if you're track racing or autocrossing... shouldn't matter a whole lot on the street). All too many cars have had motor failures in high speed corners because the oil pump couldn't grab any oil from the pan.
I ended up setting my warning light to 8 because once the car was warm and w/ my accusump it rarely dipped under 8ish psi. Defi needs to set up a load and non-load warning... Because, IMO 8 is WAY too low if you're WOT. Best thing to do is set it to just below the lowest you've seen it idle AFTER you've checked to be sure your oil is at the "full" level and then keep an eye on it while you're under load.

On cold startup idle my oil pressure hovers around 100psi... then when it is fully warm it hovers around 20 psi at idle... forgot to mention this is on a Defi BF oil pressure gauge

Oil pressure readings (either at WOT or at idle) would also varies depending on where you mounted your oil pressure sensor.
It should read lower if you mounted it at the block versus at the oil filter.

the different bodies of oil will also play a part in giving u those numbers so to really compare you guys need to say what body of oil is being used in conjuction with pressure
having said that i sold my autometer oil pressure gauge and have yet to receive my stri unit so i can't give my numbers
my oil is 10w-40 amsoil
