Cam Gears

Is Cam gears worth the money or no? If so, besides the HKS which other brands are good quality or does it matter?

its all based on timing

usually when u upgrade camshafts you should upgrade

cam gears
timing belt
arp headstuds

and if you plan on keep building your motor

springs and retainers

even tho on some camshafts there is no need to do it, if you plan on beefing up the motor your going to need to do it sooner or later, so why not do everything all at once that way u dont need to take off the head or remove the valve cover more than once

please if you are going to give help give some that he can use. No you do not need to get a new timing belt. Also you do not need headstuds. That is a myth. Especially not needed for what he is going to be running.

^very true alot of people are running all of the above w/ out doing a timing belt and head studs. Same things w/ rod bolts too. You can, but dont have too. Do your timing belt if its time to do it, not b/c you are doing these upgrades.

your going to hear a bunch of stuff regarding cam gears.....

yeah, people can make decent power with oem cam gears...but can they make more power in a specific area with cam gears, 90% of the time yes...

beleive it or not, oem cams @ -4/-4 or -5/-5 pulls pretty damn good.

i like the aem cam gears, 5 large bolts. i have hks, they are ok, difficult to read due to color of lines & blue hubs.

Ok so I don't need to change the timing belt cause I was looking into that. I will start another thread about APR headstuds cause I keep getting both to change or not to change my headstuds. I will list the mods and stuff I plan to have on my car.
