Balance Shaft Help

Well to make it quick, I have my car torn apart, but the motor is still in it. I am in the process of the 60K mile service + meth, tune a nd a couple little things. Well after reading about the Balance Belt Install and how its a PITA, I have been wondering about just getting Buschurs Balance Shaft Removal Kit and going that direction. Of course I would run the machined balance shaft like AMS recommends ( I am in Fab class at school so I could do it there). But I was wondering how hard it is to do the removal in the car, and if there are any How-Tos on removing the Balance Shafts and putting in the new kits?

Thanks

I did it and it is a PITA. You have to tilt the engine way down and also make some kind of tool to punch out the rear bearing. After that you need a way to reach in there and crush it so you can get it out. You will then need to buy a new bearing and rotate it to block the oil passage. It is possible, but a lot of work. Good idea going with the AMS style front shaft. If you have access to a lathe it will take about 15 minutes to make. Good luck. It is worth the effort. One less thing to break. I noticed no increase in vibration as a result. Even with stiff motor mounts.
