it is possible to do, but the standard 45R uses a 6" inlet compressor housing from the GT47 family. This housing will not fit, you need to use a modifed 42R compressor housing, with ported shroud.

We have these turbos in stock if you need to see any pics

the 45 compressor housing is the only part that is too big. the wheels are fine

Actually most of the big guys this year and about 4 other guys are going to try the 42R with the 45R internals. I know Buschur has been running it since last year and offers a kit, i also think that AMS is offering the kit also. You can buy the turbo from Precision in allot of different variations if you were interested. Personally im sticking with the GT427602R which uses the 45R compressor wheels but the 42R exhaust wheel. Only reason im going to try that is because going to a straight 45R you are getting a 6mm bigger inducer and a 1.8mm exducer wheel on the exhaust wheel which is huge and im not sure how the evo is going to respond to that but we shall see.

Another thing that is getting interesting is the Tial housings. Buschur i believe did some pre tests and there was a small loss in power switching but i believe the tune was a little different also. Cant wait to see how the Tial housing compares to the T4 divided housing on the 42R.

cant wait to see the results with the GT42/45. if it works it could be a really cool combo.

also im very intrsted in the tial housing. ETS has managed to get a Gt42 chassis (with GT45 wheels) to fit with stock rad!

ETS is running a 45r in their car. Can't wait to see that beast go on the dyno. Wonder what Ams going to do stick with their 42r or go bigger too.
