Is anyone running the FP Green with only minor Bolt-Ons?

In the coming weeks it looks as though I may be picking up a slightly used (under 5k miles) Forced Performance Evo Green Turbo (10.5 Hotside, 18psi WG actuator, Ported and Ceramic Coated).

My current mods: 3" TBE (no cat), Hallman MBC (22psi read from a Defi BF Amber Boost Guage), K&N Cone Filter and an Iveytune ( https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=280547 )

Future Setup (hopefully): FP Green, Aquamist HFS-5, ETS FMIC/LICP, Cams (Manufacturer To be determined), Appropriate sized Fuel Injectors, Head Studs, Walbro Fuel Pump, AEM wide band, probably the Defi EGT and Oil Pressure gauges, and I'm sure my stock clutch won't appreciate 400whp/400wtq so a new clutch will be in the cards as well.

I had been planning to make all of these /\/\/\ upgrades at the same time, but I'm not quite ready to put that kind of money into the car.

The person that is selling the Green is willing to let it go for such a good price, that I don't think I can pass it up.

Would it be wise to install the FP Green as a direct replacement to the IX Turbo with no other upgrades? (other than a fuel pump, and maybe the wide band)

I was tuned at 24psi with no issues, and I run 22psi daily. Would running 22psi on the Green put me in danger of running too lean at high RPM's?

Would anyone have any specific concerns with this type of setup?

All opinions are welcome, and I'd love to hear from anyone who is running the FP Green with minimal supporting modifications.

Thanks

If you can't pass up the price just pick it up. You wont notice a huge difference in turbos until you get supporting mods and turn up the boost.

Don't forget you will need larger Fuel Injectors for the 20G Turbo.

BlackTypeS, from someone who's tuned the green, driven it on spirited tuning sessions, dyno'd it and my son's taken it to 10.61 at 130 at the strip, get off the fence, you'll be glad every day that you did. Most people don't realize that we ran it for several months with 93 and meth and 101 and meth. It was very strong even then. The thing that's nice about it is that when and if you want to push it, it responds. It has a wide range of power. Stock spool up with the ability to easily run 11's and faster if pushed.

9sec9, thank you for a good post, it takes statments like that to really get me back on track and thinkin again! May sound stupid but its not...i was set on the green but then was talking to a member on here about getting a 50 trim instead...however a cousin of mine who knows his stuff kept trying to convince me not to...green as you said looks like its very capable of making nice power, and of course, i love the stock like spool up!

We're running PTE680's with meth and hit 92% duty cycle. I would NOT use less than 680's.

The green will run those numbers with METH --- but not on 93 octane. I run 93 octane with all the supporting mods, there's no way in hell I'd be getting into the low 11's let alone 10's. The meth will get you there for sure.

That being said, the thing is a noticeable difference from the stock turbo even it's more docile methless form. You should be able to use your stock clutch, I've had mine on for about half a year and have had 0 issues. That's pushing around 380 whp without meth. It moreso depends on how you're going to drive the car.

Any good tuner will tell you that you'll want some slightly bigger injectors, you don't want to run into an issue of not getting enough fuel. They don't cost that much relatively speaking--so don't take the chance. Get some Denso 720's and be done with it.
