From what I learned with Paul's deal you get to wear the Tilton down about 4 times then its big money. ($2700) If you do let it slip away it will also cost you big allot more because you will get to much heat into the Basket. I think for a weekend warrior car that may be drive lots of hwy mi may get 10k which would be over a year for most EVO's needing this clutch. From Paul's experience driving it in rush hr traffic stop and go you can kill the clutch down to needing the 2nd plate in 2-3k with out even ever launching the car.

For a high hp street car I have been really liking the Exedy triples much nicer to drive due to weight and longer life. Of course do not shift as fast as the Tilton and cant take as much heat as the Tilton can.

Tilton from what I understand.

-New run till slipping just a tad
-Put 2nd plate in which will not last quite as long as the 1st run till slipping a tad
-$200 rebuild assuming you did not put to much heat to it from slipping
-New again sames steps as above then once you are through that you will be below spec and need all new carbon Discs ($2700)

I think Paul is a extreme case of burning up a Tilton but I have heard plenty of stores with only getting 3-5k when they start slipping.

Pauls pedal stop was setup right.

We are running the disc below spec right now on his car. So the next time out for us is the big $$. Now that we under stand how the clutch works our next one should be the last one we ever buy.

People using the word rebuild and $200 is why we burnt it so bad. You dont get a rebuilt clutch they shave the disc flat and shave the basked is there $200 rebuild. When we went into this I was thinking $200 for a rebuild like a Exedy with all new discs and plates so you could fry it all you want and only pay $200 to rebuild it.

I dont know what you expect from a clutch but I have found the tilton to be top notch

Exedy is also very very good and a unit I recomend to anyone with a street driven car who does not want to spend a lot of cash on the crazy tilton pricing

Having a clutch like the Tilton you can basically wear out 4 times for $200 sounds like a great deal to me - maybe you see it differently

I am not trying to diss the clutch I am just trying to let others know what can happen. We love the clutch and for what we do there is no other choice and will keep using it for years.

Your 4 times is equal to 1 exedy though so for a cust to spend 2-3k in transmission pulls is another factor. I am talking on a street car that is daily driven. If you drag race alot and need to slip the clutch alot for a big turbo is ware the tilton will really shine.

I am talking about any Carbon Clutch not just Tilton. They just dont seem to last with lots of stop and go street use.

I am Talking about the Cermametalic Exedy not the Carbon.
