Just some Filter and Intake info
Some of you probably alread new this but our MAF is pretty much the same as the 2G Eclipse. So these EVO sites that are selling the Airfilter Kits for the EVO are just jacking up the price on much cheaper 2g kits and selling them as EVO kits
. I know 'cause last night I tested a couple of 2g brackets on my evo VIII and they fit great. So instead of spending 80+ on a "Evo Kit" i just bought a 2g Bracket and filter for about 60.
You can get brackets from a lot of places I bought my Bracket from enthusiastsauto.com. It depends how you buy it. If you buy the K&N Kit it comes with some extra stuff you don't need and cost a lot more. I just bought a bracket and a filter since I didn't need the recharge kit and a couple pieces of HW that came with it. It is actually closer to 70 bucks for a true K&N depending on what size K&N you put on. You also can save a few bucks by not going with a K&N or spend more going HK$. If you don't have bolts you will need them to since they put on the stock air box ont the MAF with theese screwy bolt things that don't come off the airbox. It is a very easy install.
Like anything else you can spend more for brand name or get a filter that performs just as good without th ebrand name. Personally I went K&N though. Just stay away from foam unless it's HK$ but then you are talking lot more $ then.
