Honest opinions on short shifters?
I've tried searching but the results are too clouded with non-helpful posts to really get any good info. I just installed the brass under-hood shifter bushings and I'm happy with the results. I am waiting on the other poly shift bushings to make it feel even more direct. I'm wondering how many people run short shifters, and which ones have the best overall results. I'm used to a fairly short and notchy shifter that was in my S4 and the DC Sports shifter in my old Integra Type-R that literraly had a throw of about 1/2 inch
Even my wife's G35 has a Rouge Engineering shifter that has a nice short, precise throw. I'm kind of leary of the adjustable ones having the set screws loosen up over time, and I don't want to waste money on a mod that really isn't worth it. I guess it really comes down to personal preference, but I would appreciate any words of wisdom.
Thanks everyone!

I got the "Bone Head Shifter" that is about half way down on that page. It was inexpensive and came with all of the brass bushings, as well as a new plastic piece that is needed to be replaced. All that for 115 shipped is pretty good. You already said you had the bushings, so it might not be the right one for you. But it feels good, the throw is maybe a inch shorter, and the shifter its self sits maybe and inch...inch and a half lower. My only beef with it is that it sits more to the right now, so its not right in the center of the plastic trim ring.

I installed the corsports cable bushings underthe hood and a TWMperformance short shifter w/ the base bushigs included. I also bought that greddy counter weight knob and I love the feel to it. Just make sure that you greased up the cable bushings under the hood.
Authority short shifter, Energy Suspension polyurethane base bushings, Greddy counter-weight knob..... I really like it. It is still a little notchy and sometimes hard to shift, but that's probably because I didn't really re-grease the parts when installing them.
Works 30% short shifter, Ralliart counterweight shift knob, ebay base bushings and Kartboy underhood bushings. Great combo! I've had it for over 20K miles and it feels like it was how stock should be. No notchiness, much shorter than stocker but not S2000 short, alittle bit heavier than the stocker but almost precise going into the gears.
I thought it was worth it and I haven't looked back. Definitely grease the underhood bushings well once you install them and check on it periodically.

Try putting a short shifter on an S2000
Jeez that was a short throw.
Anyway, I never had one (no need, didn't like it, waste of money IMO on the Evo... But I'll probably get one on the P) but a friend had a B&M on his car and it was wonderful, just not worth the cost to me. I'm sure the other suggestions are cheaper, its been awhile since I've looked at shifters for the Evo

I like the idea of the perrin (i think its perrin) adjustable shifter, but i wonder how it will hold up over time.
I did lube up the brass bushings with neverseez, so I'm not worried about that. I will keep an eye on them though.
